McKenna Primed For Comeback
Paul McKenna is set for a return to action in a North End shirt after being named in the reserves side that tackle Morecambe at Deepdale on Wednesday evening.
PNE's influential midfielder last wore a Lilywhites kit seven and a half months ago and following his successful rehabilitation from a groin injury, takes his place in Billy Barr's starting XI.
Last week Paul Simpson expressed his delight at the midfielder's return to fitness, explaining: "We'll see how many games he needs before he's ready to get back into the first team. It's been a long time since we had him in the first team so it may just take a little while. I think that even when he comes back he could still be a little short, but we just need to get him back playing.
"We think the planned October return that was banded around was more in hope than anything, but I'm pleased he's back in training and he's looking sharper each day. He'll benefit from getting reserve games under his belt and when the time is right we'll get him back in the first team."
Sean St. Ledger, Simon Whaley, Brett Ormerod and Neil Mellor are also named another strong looking second string.
The reserves are on somewhat of a roll at the moment following three victories in their last four outings, scoring no less than three goals in all of their previous home matches this season.
Kick off is at 7pm with admission costing £4 for adults and £2 for concessions. Entrance is free for PNE season ticket holders.
PNE: Murphy, Adams, Collins, Aspin, St. Ledger, McKenna, Whaley, Fairhurst, Ormerod, Mellor, Mayor (Subs: Appiah, Thompson, Mainwaring, Bloxam, McMahon)
