Fans Team Find The Blades Too Tough

A great fighting display by the PNE lads just wasn't enough to gain the points against a very strong Sheffield United side in the latest Fans Team encounter.

Despite a man of the match display from Garath Marks, the reigning league champions for once found their opposition too strong, and succumbed to a 3-1 defeat in a game played ahead of the equivalent first team encounter on Saturday.

"We gave it our best," said the Preston Fans Team manager Steve Cowell.

"However, teams are very wary of us this year and we are facing some strong teams now. At 2-1 down we had them pinned back but a breakaway third goal against the run of play was too much for us to pull back. A penalty miss with the final kick of the game summed up our day, but Sheffield have to come to ours later in the season and it will be a different ball game then."
