There was a double cause for celebration at Deepdale last week as the Club landed two awards at the Northwest Football Awards at the Midland Hotel in Manchester.

In the inaugural hosting of the event, Preston picked up 'Highly Commended' awards in the 'Community Club of the Year' and 'Best Club Marketing Campaign' categories - a testimony to the Club's efforts in these areas during the 2006/07 season.

North End's community department secured its accolade after impressing the judges in areas such as reaching into challenging communities, successfully organising local events and achieving clearly defined objectives.

The marketing award was presented to the Club on the back of the hugely successful 'A Time For Heroes' half season ticket campaign, which was praised by the judges for its creativity and innovation.

Andrew Pomfret, marketing manager, claimed the prizes were a testimony to the hard work put in by everyone at Preston North End during the previous season. He claimed:

"Lots of people put an awful lot of effort into making sure we achieved this recognition and everyone at the Club should be pleased with the contribution they've made.

"These awards were seen as a celebration of north west football, so it's nice to be seen as one of the best performers in this area.

"I think the commendation we received for 'A Time For Heroes' reflected the fact that the campaign seemed to capture the imagination of our supporters and we enjoyed our fastest-ever rate of half season ticket sales last season. Our support obviously encompasses a wide range of ages, but by placing a hero of today alongside a hero of yesterday, it was a campaign that appealed to fans old and new."
