The January transfer window is winding down with only hours left before the market is slammed shut until the end of the season.

Have you seen Kiki Musampa at the Tickled Trout, bumped into Juan Pablo Angel on Fishergate or even spotted Kleberson enjoying a coffee at the Charnock Richard services?

PNE.Com are running a minute-by-minute ticker of all the rumours linking players with a move to or from Deepdale in the frantic last couple of days of trading.

18.52pm - As the lights fade in the transfer window, the PNE media staff lock up the Deepdale Office, possibly signalling the end of the transfer activity at the club.

18.34pm - Neil Hudson has just seen Taylor Twellman in a Black BMW X5 in the passenger seat coming towards Preston

17.53pm - It had all gone so quiet on the transfer front, but suddenly the rumours have come flooding back in. We're getting the initials DN... and something to do with a late flight..? What's all this about borrowing players?

15.25pm - Reports coming in that Rob Kelly was spotted sitting a couple of seats down from Fabio Capello at the Manchester United - Portsmouth match last night. Is Simon Whaley being touted for a future England call-up?

15.20pm - Pedro in Leyland has it on 'good authority' that David Connolly from Sunderland has just been seen taking penalties in the National Footy Museum penalty shoot out game - maybe a new signing or just out for the day with his family, who knows?

15.05pm - Supercat has just seen Graham Alexander in the club shop, who says Kyle Lafferty is interested in a move to Rangers after Celtic fans were abusing him through his Facebook site for being a Gers fan. The power of the internet! The contributor has also heard we are in for Kris Commons and Nathan Tyson from Forest, as they are buying Coventry's Leon Best and Barry Robson from Dundee United.

13.15pm - A silver BMW with the registration 'TBT' has just pulled up on the Deepdale office car park. Maybe the deal for Taylor Twellman isn't dead!

13.03pm - Steven Ward tells us that Ade Akinbiyi and Dougie Freedman are at the National Football Museum, although he claims we should ditch the idea of signing the pair and go for David Beckham, Kaka and Kevin Kilbane! Why has Steven Ward been speculating about our transfers anyway - shouldn't he be off training with Wolves?

12.55pm - "Carlo Nash seen earlier this week outside of North End entrance - could he be returning to Deepdale?" asks Billy Hunter. Billy, if only we were as well-informed as you...

12.35pm - David tells us that Wayne Rooney is on his way to PNE! "This is a rumour started by Ray, an Everton fan," he explains. "Wayne Rooney was 20 minutes late for training this morning - this was due to the traffic on the M6 at Preston. He was at Deepdale signing a pre-contract deal, that when PNE get into the Prem, he will sign for us with immediate effect. Can't wait." Nor can we, though we think it's more likely that we'll find the next Rooney ourselves.

12.20pm - It may well be that the Kevin Kilbane link was a bit of a misunderstanding - it turns out that his Mum won the PNE Premier Weekly Draw last week, and Kev may just have been doing her a bit of a favour in going to collect the cheque from the Club Office on her behalf.

11.30am - If Alan Irvine is looking to add some beef to his attack then he might just be looking at Welsh powerhouse striker John Hartson who has just been released by West Brom. And it comes as no surprise that a certain 'club insider' has heard a whisper: 'The Bald Eagle has just spotted John Hartson in the club shop buying a North End shirt with HARTSON 99 on the back following his release from the Baggies. Hartson was heard to comment 'At only £14.99 I couldn't resist a bargain and they go up to 4XL which is handy!''

11.05am - The one comes from left-field, again quite literally, but there could be something to it! IrishEyes has emailed in to say that Alan Irvine's Everton connections have led him to Wigan! And that the return of a prodigal son come be imminent to provide left-wing competition... he's suggesting none other than Kevin Kilbane could be on his way back to Deepdale!

10.35am - The rumours are now flying in literally, or in this case soaring! Apparently Chris Eagles has been spotted at the Springfields training ground according to the aptly named emailer 'PNESpy'; could the United youngster follow in the footsteps of old Golden Balls?

10.15am - The ink has just this minute dried on Michael Hart's transfer deal after the player signed the official forms (check out Whites World in a few minutes for an exclusive interview). However one eagle-eyed fan is suggesting that Nicolas Anelka could be heading back up north, Paul Davies says: 'Couldn't believe my eyes this morning when "Le Sulk" was sat opposite me at the Withy Trees Guest House on Garstang Road, tucking into a continental brekkie. Looks to me like the move down sarf hasn't worked out and he wants to get back up north. Could North End be the beneficiaries perhaps?'

9.11am - Over at Wisemensay.com there's a blog (written by a fan which probably gives it less credence) suggesting that North End have switched their attentions to Carlisle youngster Joel Garner. Bristol City have allegedly had a bid rejected for the former Blackburn marksman but Preston are set to weigh in with a bid of £750,000 plus Brett Ormerod (surely that would take the deal to £5.75m? Ed)

9.05am - The Daily Mail's Screamer claims that the world's richest club, QPR, are going to make a deadline day bid of £1.5m for North End wing-man Simon Whaley. Leicester City are also in the frame for the former Bury man, but Whites World subscribers already know that the Lilywhites are not in the business of selling their prize assets... or are they?

7.54am - So there's 16 hours and six minutes to go in the window... what's going to happen on the final day? Is Jermain Defoe at the Preston Marriott? Has Kris Commons just picked up a sausage butty from Munch? Is Gary McSheffrey in Costa Coffee on Deepdale Retail Park? Thursday 31st January - Deadline Day

22.53pm - The PNE Media team are heading to bed - separate ones! - with rumours having dried up, let's hope the final 24 hours have more interesting gossip from you lot because it's been a meagre day in terms of titbits of news and inside information!

20.56pm - Whilst Assistant Manager Rob Kelly is spotted at Old Trafford... that lad Ronaldo would be a good buy... PNE.Com confirms that Michael Hart will finally join North End on Thursday morning after Chairman Derek Shaw and Willie Miller, Aberdeen's Director of Football, agree an undisclosed fee to make his move happen now - full reaction when the deal is complete on PNE.Com on Thursday morning.

17.12pm - Rumours of Neal Trotman being back at Deepdale are true as the Oldham Athletic defender puts pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year deal at Deepdale. PNE.Com has interviews with the man himself, the Manager and the Chairman.

15.42pm - The Chicago Tribune reports that Preston North End are amongst a host of clubs hoping to secure the contract of US keeper Matt Pickens, with Chicago Fire and an un-named Bundesliga outfit also in the hunt.

14.22pm - Gary McSheffrey, out of favour at Birmingham, is the latest name to be discussed on the forum. Jumping Mouse and Jackopne seem to think he would be a useful addition if the price is right.

14.00pm - Aston Villa have been busy bringing in new players during the transfer window but JPMcFANus via the email tells us that Villa's young striker Luke Moore is set to join the Lilywhites on loan until the end of the season.

13.08pm - Cass from Lancaster might just be on to the big news! A Preston old boy to make an emotional return to the club where he started his career? Cass says: 'I think I've just seen David Beckham buying a Racing Post and a packet of fags at the newsagents on Deepdale Road. This is clearly a done deal and Beckham is coming back to Preston!'

12.30pm - Itzagiggle (I presume that isn't his or her's real name) has been on the email, claiming 'Gregorz Szamotulski is on his way, but hes taken a few days to get from Dundee' whilst adding that the Club have had a bid rejected for Brighton midfielder Dean Hammond.

11.46am - Kieron Stacey has been in touch, with the alleged news that Kiegan Parker is going to make the short transfer across M55, whilst an unnamed young Everton midfielder is on the verge of completing a loan switch to the Lilywhites until the end of the season.

11.15am - There's another thread on the forum posted by Henri, who reckons Clive Clarke, the Sunderland full-back, was sat next to him at Deepdale on Tuesday night.

11.09am - Umpteen people have had their say on the pne-online forum on the subject of Neal Trottman. Alan Irvine confirmed to the press following the victory over West Brom that he was interested in the Oldham defender.
