Before heading off on a well deserved summer break, newly-crowned Player of the Year Sean St Ledger had one more act of duty at Deepdale - to help out in the ticket office.

The 23-year-old centre-back popped in to serve loyal customers, who had called in to purchase their season tickets for the 2008/09 campaign.

The figure sold in anticipation of the 2008/09 season stands at 270% of the rate that had been sold at the end of the first week of trading for 2007/08 season tickets - a sign that the Club's faithful support is anticipating an exciting year for Alan Irvine's resurgent side.

And St Ledger has encouraged more and more spectators to back the team for the forthcoming season and help become the team's 'twelfth man' at Deepdale on matchdays.

He said: "I think everybody has seen that we have done well in the second part of the season - we've beaten some good teams at Deepdale - and the future looks bright.

"There's a lot of confidence around the place and hopes are high that we will do well next season, so I think that's one of the reasons why season ticket sales are going well at the moment.

"Preston North End are a great club with a lot of history and heritage. There is a massive fan base and hopefully the crowds will get better for next year.

"It's been difficult for Preston fans because they have seen so much success over the last few years and it hasn't happened for us in the last two seasons. By continuing to stick with us does show a lot of loyalty and hopefully next year we can repay them.

"Playing in front of Deepdale is amazing. The supporters act as the twelve man, and that showed in the games against Burnley and West Brom last season. The atmosphere is great and obviously with the fourth stand being completed, we won't have the wind howling in.

"The stadium will be ready for the Premiership and all of the players have aspirations to play there and that's what we want to achieve with Preston."

Supporters are reminded that extended ticket office opening hours are currently in operation, including Sunday opening throughout the discounted pricing period.

The doors will be open from 9am-6pm weekdays, 9am-5pm on Saturdays, and 11am-4pm on Sundays. Please see our
