Alan Irvine has handed a boost to his returning players by declaring that the slate is wiped clean when they commence pre-season training.
Brett Ormerod, Jason Jarrett, Andrew Murphy and Joe Anyinsah all spent the back-end of the 2007/08 campaign on-loan at Nottingham Forest, Oldham Athletic, Vauxhall Motors and Crewe Alexandra respectively.
But the North End Manager has told every single member of his playing staff to report back on the first day of pre-season training ready to impress and put themselves at the forefront of his plans.
Irvine said: "On 1st July it is a clean piece of paper and it's up to every player to impress. That's impressing from the moment that the first ball is kicked and from the moment they run the first yard.
"If it was me, I would make sure that I'd be coming back in the very best condition that I could do. I'd want to show the Manager that I was right up at the front in everything that we did and perform well in all the technical sessions.
"Those lads who have been out on loan have had an opportunity to play football, which is what they wanted to do. They were frustrated at not getting games here so they've had that opportunity and there's no way that they should come back here and think that they haven't got a chance.
"They will have the same chance as everybody, everyone has to start afresh and impress right the way through pre-season training."
