The North End squad will head to Austria at the start of July with the aim of returning after a week's worth of solid training ready to hit the ground running.
Alan Irvine looks set to put his players through their paces with three intense sessions a day, before arriving back in England and beginning their pre-season schedule which includes fixtures against Carlisle United, Morecambe, Crewe Alexandra and the Gaffer's former club Everton.
The camp in Obertraun near Salzburg is familiar territory to Irvine, with the Gaffer visiting the complex on past pre-season trips with the Toffees.
And his experiences have left him in no doubt that it is the perfect environment for the players to sharpen up their fitness following the seven-week summer lay-off.
"The reason for going away is that it gives us the opportunity to work three times a day and it is also good for team building," Irvine told PNE.Com.
"People get to know each other that little bit better and it's good for the players to be together again for a decent length of time.
"I want the players to come back with higher levels of fitness and for them to be comfortable again on the ball. We'll do a lot of fitness work and a lot of technical work so at the end of the trip I would hope that the players would have played their first 90 minutes and I certainly feel that we will be quite a way down the road in terms of getting back to where we were at the time that we finished the season.
"I've been there before with Everton and it is a fantastic site. The weather is generally good for training because it's not too hot and it's not too cold, the pitches are quality and the people know how to look after us because they have had many teams train at the camps before.
"The food is good, people speak the language and I trust the people who are organising the trip for us.
"I'm also looking to play two games, which will be rather low-key matches against Austrian lower league opposition.
"It's a real intense but important period for us."
