Preston North End defender Callum Davidson faces an anxious wait on the results of a scan after picking up a knee injury in Saturday's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Davidson limped off after 73 minutes of Saturday's game, an injury which led to the player's withdrawal from George Burley's Scotland squad to face Northern Ireland later this week. The Scottish defender has been booked in for a precautionary scan on Monday afternoon and he will be keeping his fingers crossed that the news isn't bad enough to rule him out of club duty for any length of time.
Manager Alan Irvine is hopeful that the news on the injury won't be too bad: "We don't think it is anything too bad, but we will know the full extent of it once we have had the scan results," he told pne.com.
"He's getting a scan on Monday afternoon and we will find out the extent of the injury. Callum went up to Scotland just to make sure that everyone in Scotland knew that he was keen to be involved, he didn't want anyone thinking that he was pulling out lightly.
"I spoke to George Burley just to make sure that he was fully aware of the situation, it was Callum's decision to go up and show his face but we had an agreement already with George Burley and the Scottish people that as soon as we could get a scan organised we would get Callum back down here."
