Wet Weekend

Posted on: Mon 08 Sep 2008

The international weekend coupled with the unseasonably wet weather conspired to produce a rare football-free weekend for PNE.

With no first team action scheduled for Saturday, all eyes were on the youth team, but their home clash with Carlisle was called off a day in advance following the downpours that affected the game at all levels at the back end of the week.

Sunday's womens team game also fell foul of the weather when Irongate was deemed unplayable, forcing the cancellation of their home clash against Aston Villa. It was a further disappointment for Simon Gerrard's side, who were looking to record a first league victory of the season following League Cup success at home to Newcastle seven days earlier and the 5-1 reverse to Manchester City - having been 1-0 up - on Thursday evening.

Full details of the re-arranged dates will appear here at PNE.com once they are known.
