Skipper Paul McKenna's appearance on Saturday moved him into eighth on North End's all time appearance list. The Chorley-born midfielder was making his 436th appearance in a PNE shirt, overtaking 40s and 50s legendary defender Joe Walton.
The No.16 is now closing in on another legendary full-back, George Ross, who played 443 times for the Club, including the 1964 FA Cup Final. Speaking about his latest achievement McKenna was more concerned with putting things right with a good display at Turf Moor.
"It is just nice to be selected week in, week out after so many games," he said after being informed of his latest feat. "It has been a long time since I made my first one and hopefully I'm not anywhere near the end of my career.
"I hope there is still another three or four good years ahead of me. As long as the performances keep coming, then I'm sure I will be selected and that's all I am concentrating on doing. If it means overtaking people on the way then great, but at the moment we are all just concentrating on getting Preston North End as high up the league as we can possible be.
"The start to the season was pleasing. It was documented before the start of the season that we are normally slow starters and even though we have had good runs in the past which have got us up there, we have been playing catch up. If you can stay up there and keep the confidence going and keep in touching distance of the leaders, then if a good run does come you are going to be even closer to getting where you want to be at the end of the season.

"There are no easy games in this league. It wouldn't matter who we had played after losing our first game of the season, it would have been a tough game. There's an added onus on it with the fact that it is Burnley and they have been going well of late, so it is a tough game for us regardless of the rivalry off the pitch."
Looking back on Saturday's clash with the table-toppers, Kenna admits that they shaded the game, but felt that things could have been very different: "We knew when they were coming that it would be a tough one. They are not top of the league for no reason; likewise we were flying as well. You have to hold your hands up some times and they probably edged it overall, but there were a couple of decisions that if they'd gone our way early doors then it might have been a different story.
"Goals change games and if after a few minutes we are 1-0 up and they are down to ten men then it is a different perspective on the game. We were a bit disappointed after the game with the way some of the decisions did go for us, but hopefully over the course of the season it will even itself out. It's just a shame that on such a crunch day; with two good teams in form, you come away talking about the referee."
