Sean St. Ledger and Jon Parkin were both enforced changes for Preston against Ipswich on Saturday.

The duo were withdrawn either side of half-time and the Preston North End management will now have to check on the pair ahead of Tuesday night's big trip to Nottingham Forest.

"Jon Parkin got a bang on his hip in the first half," Alan Irvine explained after the match.

"It was getting iced at half-time and unfortunately it just stiffened up completely, the physios were working on it and trying to keep it moving. You are trying to ice it on the one hand, to stop it swelling and then on the other hand you are trying to keep it moving.

"He went out in the second half and had a go and it wasn't right so we had to make two enforced substitutions, two very important players for us."

St. Ledger received a knock to the head in the opening exchanges but was later withdrawn after suffering from blurred vision.

Irvine said: "He tried to carry on, he was brave and wanted to keep going but unfortunately he made a mistake for the goal and it was probably at that point that he thought and we thought that he better come off."
