Deepdale Is Changing
It may just sound like we're just watching the paint dry and waiting for the grass to grow, but it's all happening at Deepdale!
There are changes taking place to both the interior and exterior of the stadium as the Club's workforce puts in plenty of graft to ensure the venue is in the most striking condition possible when we return to action with next month's friendlies at home to Stoke City and Wigan Athletic, with a number of structural and cosmetic changes taking place.
As our photos show, the playing surface is coming back to life with a bang, less than a fortnight after being seeded, and the grass was even cut for the first time on Thursday as the green shoots break through with promise.
While that turns the pitch from pale shades to green tones, other areas of the stadium are also being given a new look that makes quite a significant alteration to the look of the stadium's interior.
The majority of the metal crush barriers in each stand are being painted for the first time, turning navy to match the colour of the seating, while the gangways have a new look that would almost be better suited to our travels.
The edges of each step have been given a new yellow trim to make them more readily visible for health and safety reasons, and though the sections of paint are only relatively slim, they help to create a very bold contrast in between each block of navy blue seating, as you can see from our photographs.
With work also currently taking place to move the control panels in the floodlight towers to a more manageable position, and new external signage set to be installed in the coming weeks, our famous old stadium will look noticeably different when the fans file back in through the turnstiles on July 25th.
As further changes occur, we'll bring you photo updates here at pne.com.
