Car Parks Closed During Revamp
Posted on: Mon 06 Jul 2009
The ongoing renovation of Deepdale continues apace next week as the Club sets about improving two key areas of spectator facilities, so visitors to the stadium during this period are advised that this could have an impact on their trip.
The Club is planning to re-surface and re-mark certain areas of two car parks, while a large scale operation is expected as repair work takes place on the roof of the Alan Kelly Town End.
Work on the parking facilities at Deepdale takes place between 7pm on Monday 6th July and 6am on Thursday 9th July. Visitors are advised that both the Sir Tom Finney Stand car park and Alan Kelly Town End car park will be closed during this period. Additionally, the walkway between the Club offices and the Sir Tom Finney Stand (southern end of the stand) will be closed on Tuesday 7th July and Wednesday 8th July while this area is re-surfaced.

Drivers are instead advised that they should park on the Bill Shankly Kop car park for the duration of the work, and should not use the Invincibles Pavilion car park, as this is controlled by access barriers and only provides access for those using the Minerva Centre. The Club shop car park should remain unaffected by the work, but visitors are asked to only use this area if they actually wish to access the Club shop, in order to avoid overcrowding for those wishing to enter the store.
A larger scale operation takes place in the Alan Kelly Town End, as areas of the roof that have been leaking are repaired in time for the new season to ensure a more comfortable matchday experience for supporters in this area.
Due to this project taking place, those who regularly walk along the passageway running behind the Alan Kelly Town End should also be aware that this area will be out of bounds for a fortnight, starting from Monday. Instead, pedestrians wishing to get from the Invincibles Pavilion car park to any facilities in or adjacent to the Sir Tom Finney Stand will need to walk around the stadium down Lowthorpe Road, Hollins Road and past the Museum. This closure is in operation from Monday 6th July until Monday 20th July (inclusive).
Facilities manager Vincent George explained that the renovation is all part of the Club's desire to provide the best possible level of matchday comfort for spectators, telling PNE.com:
"The work on the Alan Kelly Town End roof is in response to regular complaints going back several years from supporters complaining about roof leaks in this area, spoiling their match day experience.
"The Club has invested considerable resources in improvements to the ground over the last 12 months and this is the latest example of how the Club is committed to improving Deepdale for the supporters. Major works such as the repair to the roof can only be completed out of season in a relatively short time frame."
Your assistance in avoiding the areas affected by this work is greatly appreciated. The ticket office, Club shop and Club offices will remain open as normal during this time.
