Switch, Combine And Save!

With the whole country seemingly latched on to the Wimbledon craze, it is fitting to start with the entry from a player of ours who was born in the same town as one of those taking to the court today.

In the Blackpool programme, Callum Davidson revealed to the matchday programme who is the most famous person to come from the Scottish town of Dunblane (clue: it's not Callum!).

"Our latest British tennis superstar, Andy Murray, is from there. Rob Kelly and Billy Barr always say he is Scottish when he loses and British when he wins, but he doesn't lose that often anymore so I'm getting the upper hand in that one.

"It's a commuter village for the big cities, they've got the cathedral which is a lovely historic building and then you've got the trossachs and the mountains and lochs."

A similarly small home town is captain Paul McKenna's, Chorley. The skipper told us ahead of the last day of the season what there was to do in that area and what the best and worst things about that area are.

"There's alot around and about. A lot of people go up toi Rivington Pike and Rivington Barn, it's beautiful around there, up in the hills. Astley Park is a historical pace. We've got Park Hall, there's an antiques fair and Camelot, Botany Bay, Bygone Times, there's loads of stuff it's buzzing.

"The worst thing is that there are alot of small businesses closing down in the town centre, obviously hit by the credit crunch. The best thing about it is Henry Tate's, it's the new bar in the middle of Chorley, it's always busy and has cheap ale. "

McKenna's midfield partner for the season run-in was Lee Williamson and he sat in the 'My Home Town' chair for the memorable Cardiff 6-0 victory, like McKenna he informed fans of the delights of his home town of Derby.

"Nearby there is Matlock and Matlock Bath but Derby only has parks really. Matlock has big mountains and a lot of bikers go there and you have a load of cable-cars going across the mountains.

"It's most famous export would probably have to be Rolls Royce, they're the company that make all the aeroplane engines."

And the final words in our My Home Town journey go to Simon Whaley, and Bolton. The winger gave a glowing review to his home town and it ended top of the leaderboard and he outlined the most famous export and its culinary speciality.

"Peter Kay, the guy is hilarious, His stand-up is great and I'm a massive fan of his sit-com, Phoenix Nights. I've been there, it's in Farnworth. It's not the best place in the world but it puts us on the map.

"Indian food is the culinary speciality, there's quite a few curry houses and there's a good selection of Chinese. You can get a good steak and ale pie from Bolton, they've also got Babby's Yead. We also eat a lot of pigs' trotters, hence Bolton Wanderers' nickname of the trotters."
