Contrary to some media reports, PNE aren't set to play Hibernian twice in as many days when they travel north at the end of the month, but our Scottish hosts have scheduled two fixtures that pit them against a Preston side over the course of that weekend.

A number of media outlets are listing a Preston XI v Hibernian XI clash on our pre-season fixture lists for the night of Friday 31st July, but before fans start revising their travel plans to ensure they don't miss an extra North End game here in Lancashire the day before the first team's game, it's worth pointing out that the Preston they're erroneously referring to is East of Scotland Premier League side Preston Athletic!

The part-timers play host to the Scottish Premier League club's reserves in their home town of Prestonpans, which is around eight miles away from Easter Road, with the game kicking off at 7pm at Pennypit Park. The Club have extended a warm welcome to any North Enders who want to 'make a weekend of it' in the Edinburgh region and see two Prestons in action for their efforts.

Athletic were one of five teams who threw their hat into the ring for the vacant Scottish Football League place, created by Gretna's demise last summer, but they eventually lost out to Annan Athletic.
