Matchwinner Chris Brown had no argument with the way things went on Tuesday night, saluting his team-mates for ensuring that Preston overturned an early deficit against Leicester City to take their place in Saturday's draw for the Carling Cup third round.
Brown struck either side of half-time to cancel out Nicky Adams' deft opener for the Foxes, securing what the Doncaster-born striker felt was the right result despite an indifferent start.
"I think in the first half we were a bit sloppy, but luckily we were able to get that goal back before half-time and in the way we played in the second half, I think we deserved it," he told pne.com.
"It was a pretty open game which could have gone either way, but I think the second goal was going to be vital - thankfully we got it."
Brown's 14th minute equaliser took a deflection off Chris Powell to beat Chris Weale, but there was no doubt in the striker's mind that the touch was irrelivant.
"It was going in," he affirmed. "The deflection didn't matter and it wasn't an own goal as some of the lads are trying to tell me! I'll take them all day though.
"I didn't actually see the save the keeper made to deny me another later on, but the lads were telling me it was a great save. Thankfully I was there in the right place to get the second.
"It was a brilliant ball in from the left and it was great to get two assists from Eddie [Nolan]. It was such a good ball that all I had to do was get my head on it. I'm just pleased that it went in."
Key to Preston's victory was the fluent football that came despite a much-changed line-up following Saturday's victory over Peterborough. The ex-Norwich man was enthused with the fact that such quality was on show from a new look side. He explained:
"I thought that everyone that came in tonight took their chance when it came. When you're playing in the Championship and you're part of a squad where places are up for grabs, you've got to do that.
"We've got a win tonight and there were a lot of good performance to take from it, so it's all good for the Club.
"Leicester are a very well organised side who were unbeaten before tonight and don't concede many goals, so we've done well tonight.
"My preference now is for us to get another home tie in the next round - preferably against one of the League One clubs left in the competition - to see if we can just keep going."
