1700: So mixed emotions for the Lilywhites. At 1-0 a few minutes before the break Alan Irvine's men looked comfortable but that one penalty incident and subsequent sending-off changed the face of the game. In the end North End would probably be happy to take what is a battling draw in the circumstances. PNE remain unbeaten throughout August for the second season in succession.
90+5 min: A late, late corner sets the heart a flutter but it's an aimless one and as North End look to clear their lines the referee puts the whistle to his lips and calls time on the game.
90+4 min: Wickham almost steals in with a header, he's offside but he still brings a fine save from Lonergan from only five yards out.
90+1 min: Five minutes of added time here!!! Time to bite your nails!
90 min; Chilvers with a brave, brave challenge, surrounded by Ipswich men and facing his own goal he was strongest to get to the ball and to nod it away for a corner. From the corner McAuley had a header at the far post, it was a looper, it was going to the back post, but it landed on the roof of the net.
88 min: The home support is getting a little restless here. A wayward pass from McAuley is jeered as it drifts away for a PNE goal-kick.
85 min: North End set-piece, Chaplow in acres of space on the edge of the box and is found by Wallace taking the corner. Chaplow's shot though is high, wide and not so handsome.
80 min: Jones moves to centre-half with Hart slotting in at right-back.
78 min: St. Ledger is back on the pitch but he's not happy and he signals to the bench that his afternoon may be over. Michael Hart is stripped and ready to come on and the substitution is made as the slow hand claps and jeers ring around Portman Road. The home support not happy as valuable time is eaten up.
77 min: St. Ledger is receiving more treatment on the pitch with his knee giving him more cause for concern. Chaplow is another who has injury concerns, he is fouled and stays down. Tommy Smith is booked for protesting.
75 min: North End still look dangerous on the counter-attack, Chaplow sent clear in the right channel, he has Wallace arriving late but can't quite spot him, he drifts to the byline before digging a cross out across the face of goal, Trotter gets a slight header to it and the ball finally finds Wallace who twists and turns before drilling a shot towards the near post, it found the side-netting.
74 min: Lonergan called into action to make a brave save at the feet of Wickham. St. Ledger was the meat in the sandwich between keeper and striker and he lay on the byline clasping his knee.
72 min: Chris Brown involved in a rather curious offside decision. Shumi toe-poked a clearance towards the half-way line and Brown chased the ball down inside his own half, Brown just got a toe to the ball and somehow was judged offside for touching the ball in his own half?
67 min: Oh, almost great football from the Lilywhites. The linesman's flag is up as PNE look to have a great opportunity. Brown holds the ball up and plays the ball out to Sedgwick and he almost slots Wallace through, it was the delay on the ball which probably led to Ross being ever so slightly offside, if he'd timed his run better then Chris Brown was in the middle completely unmarked and begging for the pass.
63 min: 19,454 supporters inside the stadium this afternoon.
61 min: A clash of heads and St. Ledger looks punch drunk. He's down on the ground and then he tries to stand up again, but he's almost down again, luckily the physio is there to break his fall.
60 min: Wickham, a 16-year-old prodigy comes on for Priskin, Stead is on for Counago and Alan Quinn is on for Lee Martin as Roy Keane makes a triple substitution.
59 min: Brown gets a deft header at goal from a Wallace free-kick, if the header had a little more purchase on it we could have been talking about a goal, instead it went a yard or two wide.
57 min: A change for PNE. Sedgwick comes on for Paul Parry as Irvine looks to inject some fresh legs into the game.
53 min: Great pressure from PNE. Preston leave men up for corner and St. Ledger of all people is put through into the box, the ball is there to be won and both St. Ledger and Ipswich keeper Wright go for the ball, St. Ledger goes down in a heap but the ball comes out for Chaplow who tries to find a Preston body. It's great determination from PNE, they definitely haven't settled for a point despite being a man down and away from home.
52 min: North End hit back with a counter-attack of their own and it's almost an own goal from Ipswich's carrot-topped youngster Jack Colback. The rookie midfielder cut out a square ball from Chaplow which was intended for the unmarked Wallace, Colback slid in and he connected with the ball in such a way that it was only an inch or two over the bar.
51 min: Great save from Lonergan. A corner from the left, McAuley with the header from point blank range and Lonergan did really well to scramble the ball off the goal-line.
46 min: A nice positive start from North End in the second half, Parry getting down the right flank and hitting a dipping cross with his right boot which Bruce is forced to turn behind for a corner.
1607: North End are back out on the pitch and the good news is that Ross Wallace is out there, looks like PNE will remain unchanged for the second half.
1555: So plenty for Alan Irvine to mull over in the dressing room at half-time. Up until the penalty decision North End had looked relatively comfortable, but the equaliser, at such a crucial time and the fact that PNE are now down to 10 men is sure to have an influence on the final outcome of the game. PNE are really up against it, but they have been in worse positions and come away with a positive result.
45+2 min: Wallace gets up and hobbles back onto the pitch rather gingerly. He'll have all of half-time to try and sort the injury out as the referee blows his whistle to bring the first half to a close.
45 +1 min: A further worry for North End as Ross Wallace lies in a crumpled heap on the far side following a robust challenge. He looks like he is in agony, Chris Sedgwick is sent down the touchline to warm-up.
45 min: North End make an immediate change with Parkin coming off so that Eddie Nolan can fill in at left-back. PNE switch to a 4-5-1 formation. . 44 min: Goal for Ipswich!!! Lonergan saves Walter's spot-kick, correctly diving to his right, but he can only parry it and Walters is there on to the rebound to make the scores level at 1-1.
43 min: Major turning point in the game here at Portman Road? A penalty is awarded to the home side for handball on the line. The referee initially failed to award the penalty but the linesman flagged and the decision was given. The referee showed a straight red card, to Billy Jones... and then after discussion with the linesman, changed his mind and it was Callum Davidson who walked off the pitch, protesting his innocence.
42 min: Wallace is on the right wing at the moment, he gets a chance to come in onto his left boot and lets fly with an effort from fully 30-yards, Wright is behind it but can only parry the ball as it dipped towards goal.
38 min: A good spell from the home side. Walters finds a bit of space on the edge of the box and he looks up before drilling a low daisy-cutter across, it's a good effort but eventually ends up a yard or two wide.
37 min: North End almost prove to be their own worst enemy. Lee Martin with a woeful ball across goal and three or four North End defenders just all leave it to each other, Jones just gets something on the ball as Counago forces a shot at goal, Lonergan tipping the ball over the crossbar from only six-yards out. From the corner, Jones has to be strong at the back post as Priskin tries to turn a shot home.
31 min: Wallace shows his twinkle toes with a deft little backheel into the path of Parry, both wing-men occupying a place on the left and Parry's cross is just begging to be turned home, a great cross, but neither Brown or Parkin can get near the ball.
30 min: Half an hour gone here and but for a few moments from Walters and Counago, PNE have dealt with the Ipswich threat particularly well.
26 min: A chance for Counago as Walters dinks a little ball between to the two centre-halves, but the linesman's flag is up early and as Lonergan parries Counago's shot away the referee's whistle was already blown.
23 min: Great challenge from Callum Davidson as Ipswich look to hit PNE on the break, Lee Martin sprints clear down the left flank and the PNE skipper times his challenge to perfection on the edge of the box, taking man and ball to clear the danger.
22 min: Chilvers is enjoying having the ball at his feet and again he plays an inch-perfect ball to the front men, this time Parkin, Parkin takes the ball on his chest into the area but his shot is well blocked away for a corner.
15 min: An early goal is exactly what they needed against this Ipswich team low on morale. Chaplow with a volley that finds the feet of Brown in the box, it's a powerful effort from Chappy though and Brown has no chance of controlling it.
12 min: Goal for PNE!!!! Ross Wallace drills one in from the left and it's in at the far post, perfect placement. It came after a wonderful ball from Chilvers at the back, pin-perfect pass to the left flank, Wallace turned his marker inside out before a fantastic finish.
8 min: Foul and retribution? Davidson with a lunging challenge on Walters, the crowd are incensed, the referee Mr Taylor shows the PNE skipper the yellow card.
7 min: Handbags at dawn. Wallace with a later challenge on Walters and Walters gets up and decides to push Wallace around a bit, PNE's skipper Callum Davidson intervenes and tells Walters to pick on someone his own size. The usual square-ups continue until the referee arrives and blows his whistle.
3 min: Massive chance for the Lilywhites. Billy Jones hits a hopeful left-footed ball downfield the ball bounced in front of Balkestein and Parkin and the Ipswich man totally misjudges the bounce. Parkin is clear through on goal... only Wright the keeper to beat... Parkin hits it straight but Wright is equal to it and the ball is saved off the keeper's legs.
2 min: We are underway and the first free-kick of the afternoon comes after a bit of mid-air grappling between former North End loanee Tamas Priskin and St. Ledger, the free-kick is in PNE's favour.
1458: The two teams are out of the tunnel and on the pitch. North End in their home strip, Ipswich in white shorts, blue socks and blue shirts.
1441: Both sides are expected to line up with a 4-4-2 formation. Keane's men employing the young duo of Colback and Trotter in the centre of midfield up against Chaplow and Shumi.
1429: One of today's assistants is a Mr N A Hair, what's the betting he's as bald as a coot!
1425: So five changes! In come Davidson, Chaplow, Jones, Wallace and Parkin. Hart, Sedgwick, Carter, Nolan and Elliott are relegated to the bench.
Ipswich: Wright, McAuley, Bruce, Martin, Counago, Balkestein, Priskin, Colback, Walters, Smith, Trotter. Subs: Lee-Barrett, Delaney, Stead, Healy, Quinn, Ainsley, Wickham. PNE: Lonergan, Davidson, Chaplow, Shumulikoski, Brown, St. Ledger, Chilvers, Parry, Jones, Wallace, Parkin. Subs: Henderson, Hart, Sedgwick, Carter, Nolan, Elliott, Mellor.
1408: Still no team news but I am not going to guess it as Alan Irvine has been tinkering around with things every game so far this season. What we do know though is that Mawene and Nicholson are definitely out due to injury.
1356: No team news as yet. Tune in to our PNE Player coverage if you want to get it quicker than anyone else.
1351: Phew what a scorcher! The sunshine is beating down in Suffolk. Reminds me of the game exactly four years ago to the day when North End won 4-1 at Ipswich Town in front of the Sky TV cameras.
1348: Our co-commentator for the afternoon has arrived, none other than 1995/96 Third Division Championship winning defender Paul Sparrow.
1343: Coach Billy Barr currently dominating the middle of the park. That's because he is the only one out there now, he's on cones duty this afternoon. Dropping a few white cones every five yards or so in the glorious sunshine.
1341: The players currently on view are Davidson, THE BEAST, Chilla, Sedginho and Sleeves.
1340: All quiet on the Ipswich front thus far. I can tell you that the team is here, as they are checking out the lush Portman Road turf whilst reading the programme.
