Captain
Callum Davidson has returned to training this week after over a month on the sidelines but is still cautious over the hamstring injury which has left him on the sidelines.

Davidson picked up a hamstring tear while on international duty for Scotland last month but could return for action next week Preston. But North End's skipper is aware that he could cause more damage to his hamstring if he rushes back to action too soon.

Speaking on Tuesday about his recovery, Davidson told pne.com: "It's all going to plan at the moment. I joined in training today for just over an hour so I'm hoping to train through Thursday and Friday but it'll probably be too soon to return for Saturday.

"I am very eager to get back to action and that's the problem with a hamstring injury, you have got to be sensible, you want to be out there but sometimes you just have to be a little bit cautious.

"It is probably one of the most common types of injuries and this is the most common sort of time where you can cause yourself more damage at the end of your rehab program. It is a bit of a worry for me but I just want to make sure I'm back properly and fit because we have got some big games coming up which I want to be involved in. I think the Physio's may have to hold me back a bit and be the bad guys for me."

Davidson has praised Ross Wallace's recent performances and believes he deserved his call up to the Scotland squad. Nevertheless, Scotland is far from Davidson's mind at the moment as he focuses on featuring again for North End.

"It's great for Ross. I think he has fully deserved his call up not just for performances this season but his performances for the whole of last season.

"It is good that the manager is looking down south and has looked at Preston players for his Scotland team. It is another goal of mine to return for my country but my main goal is to get fit again for Preston and carry on the great start we have had to the season. It will be tough for me to get back into the team and I have now got to show the manager that I want to play."

The defender has been forced to watch a lot of this season from the sidelines but he has praised the efforts of all of his team mates and cannot wait to lead his side out again.

"The boys are doing really well at the moment, if somebody said we would be fifth after nine games then I would be delighted with that. I think it is a credit to all of the boys and the staff involved at the moment. We have got a hard end to this month and I hope we can get some momentum going into a tricky November."
