Manager Alan Irvine says that he hopes the Spanish training camp has revitalised his squad. Speaking as the players returned to the hard work at Springfields, the gaffer told the official website that he felt the hard work put in in the few days away will reap its own rewards.

"I first spoke to the chairman about it a couple of weeks before the international break, because I wasn't sure how we would deal with such a long gap between games; 16 days without a game," he said to PNE.Com. "I looked at all different possibilities and that one was one of them. Then the Tuesday before the break we couldn't train at Springfields and that made my mind up that we should go away.

"I was delighted that the chairman gave us the money to do that. I know that is not easy, but we went out there to work. We worked very hard while we were out there and I think we will feel the benefit of it.

"We were able to train at a very high tempo. The sessions that we did were very sharp. I think the players will feel that they have worked very hard, but they will also feel that there is an extra bit if sharpness that has been put back into them.

"That is what I think we will get out of this most of all. Where I think things were becoming a bit of a slog, being able to train in the way that we did will hopefully inject a little bit of pace and a little bit of sharpness back into us."
