Hoyland Proud Of Troops

Youth team coach Jamie Hoyland, started out as a young player at Manchester City, but he masterminded a cup shock at Deepdale on Saturday, as his U18s ran out deserved winners against Britain's richest club.
Speaking to PNE Player after the 2-1 FA Youth Cup third round victory Jamie said that the team had more than exceeded his expectations: "I told them in the dressing room I was very very proud of them," he said. "It was a massive tie for us that not many people expected us to win, but we performed very well on the day and got what I though was a deserved victory.
"We were probably overawed with the occasion, especially the first years, in the first few minutes, but once they settled down and realised it was only a game of football, then I thought we played some good stuff."
The first goal was not, however, something he admits to have worked on at Springfields: "I'm not a big believer in doing a lot of set pieces; I want my team to play football, but as it was we had good delivery from Neil [Dougan] and George [Miller] got on the end of it and we went 1-0 up.
"George is not renowned for his goalscoring, so I am delighted for my skipper to get one today.
"In terms of the second, we've got a bit of pace upfront and we broke on them and it could have been a penalty, but Jamie Proctor clipped it back and it was a fairytale for Dougs, having been released by Man City, scoring the goal was great for him.
"We were going to bring him off, because of an injury to his shoulder, but he's got a heart as big as anybody I've ever seen or played with and I'm really chuffed he got a goal today."
We'll have more reaction and highlights of the game online on Monday, with PNE Player speaking to Jamie and skipper/goalscorer George Miller, and we'll have written reaction from centre half pairing Bailey Wright and Daniel Devine as well as Northern Irish U17 striker Michael McLellan. There'll also be plenty of action shots of the game to enjoy.
