New strength and conditioning coach Scott Taylor is looking to get the squad fighting fit. An integral part of Darren Ferguson's new backroom team, Taylor is looking forward to putting the squad through their paces.
"I am coming to the Club as a strength and conditioning coach," he told the official website. "That basically means working with the players on a day-to-day basis on strength - meaning Olympic lifting, kettlebell training, stability ball and swiss ball training, as well as training ground activities like speed, endurance power, rugby development and we do a lot of injury prevention as well.
"I have worked with Darren for nearly three years now. I know what he wants; I know what the players need to give them the best opportunity to get in the team. The current team are doing really really well and I just want to help them to kick on and get a little bit better."
With the side already having had a gruelling pre-season, Taylor is looking to build on their base fitness and improve it further: "Fitness is paramount in pre-season, but you have to maintain it throughout the season and then finish stronger in the league.
"You don't want to run the lads into the ground, because obviously they won't be next to no running, because Kevin Russell tries to do everything with the ball, which is brilliant because it is game specific - but all my training is functional, to do with football. In football you have to be an athlete and keep going for 90 minutes and we are going to work to make the lads as strong as possible."
Taylor did not come into the came from a football background, but is looking to work with the current medical staff and help the team: "I come from a part rugby, but personal training background. I got offered the job at Peterborough just three weeks before Darren came on board, with the old manager Keith Alexander, and it just went from strength to strength with Darren. It's been a great opportunity for me.
"I don't want to tread on anyone's toes, because they are doing a really good job as it is. I have met all the medical staff today and I want to work hand in hand with them and take the players forward."
