Darren Ferguson discussed transfer targets and potential new signings in his post match chat after the defeat to Chelsea and said that things are going on behind the scenes to try and bring players in.

The manager was asked about his interest in Peterborough midfielder Paul Coutts: "We have options in that sort of area," he said. "There are two or three we have spoken to. Paul we have enquired about. We have not made an offer, we have just enquired, so we will see what happens - it could be a busy week.

"We could possibly have something done before Monday, but we'll wait and see. The chairman has been working very hard this week, to be fair to him, but these things take time. We hope that we can freshen things up with two or three this week."

However, he dismissed the option of Sean St. Ledger leaving on the cheap, reiterating his desire to keep his star centre half, who he praised as part of a solid defensive unit versus the FA Cup holders.

"Celtic have enquired about Sean, but are a million miles away from getting him. The value was set when he was going to Middlesbrough, so they are a million miles away.

"I've known Sean for some time and we've had a couple of conversations since I arrived and he is perfectly happy here and I definitely want to keep him; he is one of the best defenders in the league. I've no doubt he can play higher, but at the moment Celtic are enquiring, but they've got no chance of what they're offering and I don't want to lose him.

"He is a proper player, there is no doubt about that. I felt he and Youl did really well today. They were disciplined and spoke well and I was really pleased with both of them. It was a slight risk to play Youl, but I had a long chat with him on Thursday, but I felt that because Chelsea are never going to play many long balls past you - they are going to try and play through you; so you need players who talk and I felt we did that well today."
