1730: That is it for our minute-by-minute of the transfer deadline day. The window is shut in England and the news from Deepdale is that Keith Treacy has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Club. Keep up to date with all of the latest North End news on pne.com and via the Club's SMS service.
1725: There were have it, it is late in the day but we can now confirm that Preston North End have signed Keith Treacy.
1711: There are reports that Robbie Keane is on his way to Celtic for a medical. the transfer window in Scotland remains open until midnight so I am sure that Sky Sports' Jim White will gives folks some gripping minute-by-minute analysis!!
1710: The window has shut but the door of opportunity is still open.
1700: BIg Ben signals the end of the transfer window according to SSN.
1656: Into the last three minutes according to SSN, our clock is a bit slower than that! Former PNE frontman David Healy has signed for Ipswich Town.
1649: Some people have taken their commitment to transfer deadline day to a different level as this email shows:
From Adam Leach: "I've been off work today and had nothing better to do than sit on the club shop car park all afternoon.Mr Owen Hargreaves has just walked into the reception area on the sir Tom Finney stand.
1645: Into the last quarter of an hour now and the lights are still on in North End's offices.
1639: The clock is king in the club's offices now as it must be in offices up and down the country. Nyron Nosworthy and Toni Kallio have signed on for the Blades, both of them must be in contention for next Tuesday's match.
1633: Beads of sweat must be running down the heads of many chairmen, managers and players across the country as the window moves into its last twenty odd minutes.
1627: The clock ticks down on the SSN screen but the phrase 'Sky Sports News understands' isn't producing too many juicy deals to get fans talking.
1620: Roy Keane has signed Daryl Murphy from his former club Sunderland on loan until the end of the season.
1617: Robinho has literally landed in Brazil. The thumb-sucking striker arrived at Santos in a helicopter with Pele alongside him, imagine that at Deepdale!
1613: It's very much a double-glazed window with extra locks on at the moment isn't it? Remember to send in your rumours to us via text, email, twitter or even carrier pigeon!
1611: Ledge is back amongst the transfer rumours, this is taken from the BBC website:
KevBaz: "I have it on good authority that Sean St Ledger (will go) from PNE to Celtic for £3m."
1609: Looking back to the 2009 summer transfer window, Neill Collins signed on the deadline towards the end of the summer transfer period, so don't rule out any activity just yet transfer window-watchers!
1607: SSN's 'man in the north east' is telling all and sundry that Middlesbrough could be in the running to sign Blackpool's skipper Charlie Adam - a possible replacement for Adam Johnson?
1601: We are now into the final hour... it's going to be tight if we are to beat the deadline!
1550: Confirmation that this is officially the 'worst deadline day ever' with Deloitte revealing on the BBC that only £21m has been spent in this transfer window so far, compared to £170m this time last year and £150m in January 2008. Fear not, when Henry and Hargreaves sign on the dotted line at Deepdale that £21m total is sure to have doubled.
1546: Those Owen Hargreaves rumours refuse to die down. The latest has the former Bayern Munich man heading north on the M6...
Paul Evans via email: 'Just filling up with petrol at charnock Richard service station. Owen Hargreaves just filled up on pump 8 and is heading north!!!'
He better get a wriggle on Paul as we only have one hour and ten minutes to go!
1542: David Healy could be on the move with BBC local radio in Belfast suggesting that Roy Keane could be making his 100th swoop on Sunderland by taking the former Preston man to Ipswich. Somebody should tell Mr Keane that there are other clubs in the country other than the Black Cats.
1530: SSN website now states what we all knew half an hour ago, that Preston's bid for Martin Woods has been rejected. Meanwhile Bryan Swanson and Jim White are still getting all apoplectic about the prospect of a random non-league player moving to an unnamed non-league club on a one month loan. How long before Andy Burton is on telling us that he's had a personal text from Harry Redknapp?
1528: Toni Kallio is the name on the lips of all Sheffield United fans. He's a Finnish defender and he's on the brink of joining the Blades according to the BBC.
1523: The media are getting themselves all in a tissy. Methinks they might be guilty of believing their own hype as they are now describing it as 'the worst deadline day ever'.
1520: There have been rumours all week that North End are about to make a sensational swoop and I think we have just nailed it down with the latest text message...
Mr Lewis on text: 'I've just seen Thierry Henry going to confession at St. Gregory's'.
Is he confessing for that handball perhaps? If he's signing how will St. Ledger get on with him? All these questions remain to be answered. Can the Preston public bring us more on this outstanding revelation?
1514: Alex Bruce completes his move from Ipswich to Leicester City. Meanwhile Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Robbie Williams!!!
1512: Doncaster's official website doncasterroversfc.co.uk reports that they have rejected a bid from Preston North End for midfielder Martin Woods. The plot thickens.
1509: The BBC are running a similar live update and they have rumours aplenty, Rivaldo spotted at Cardiff international airport, Swansea's Scott Dobbie on his way to Blackpool, Adam Johnson on the verge of a big money move to Manchester City.
1506: Even if we have no transfer deals to report we can always rely on Sky Sports News to make some up. We are still all scratching our heads in the media team at Deepdale as to how SSN managed to put out that we had signed a player when neither Preston's or Doncaster's media team knew anything about it? Simple message in all this, don't believe what you read or hear until you see it on the official website or you get one of the official SMS text alerts.
1504: So, less than two hours to go and as yet there has been no transfer activity at Deepdale. A bit surprising really bearing in mind the amount of speculation there was prior to today. Where has all the rumour and gossip disappeared to? Has our email been blocked?
1448: I am reading the Sky Sports News ticker and reluctant to share their knowledge due to our aparrent signing. Anyway, it is now claimed that former North End loanee Tamas Priskin has joined QPR from Ipswich Town.
1439: The Sky Sports News yellow ticker is flashing up with the news that "Martin Woods has signed for Preston". We have been on the phone to the Chairman and Doncaster's press office and we can confirm that Preston HAVE NOT signed the Doncaster Captain.
1437: Sticking in the north east now and there are reports that Manchester City have had a bid accepted for Adam Johnson.
1433: The transfers just keep on coming in the Championship with reports that Leon Best has signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the Toon.
1423: There are reports that our opponents tomorrow night maybe doing some business before the match at Deepdale. Barnsley have told the beeb that they could be signing Filipe Teixera from West Brom and Clarets youngster Jay Rodriguez.
1420: From one Milan giant to another. Amantino Mancini has moved from Inter to AC on a six-month loan deal.
1414: Doncaster Rovers have now had some activity today, they have signed Shelton Martis from West Brom for an undisclosed fee.
1411: There is now under three hours left in the transfer window now and everytime a door opens in the office, we are looking up from our desks in anticpation. There is no news of any signings though from the Club yet so the wait goes on.
1404: Benny McCarthy has now made the switch to the Hammers. The South African has signed for an undisclosed fee, a saying that is now common place within football transfers.
1357: Andy Fensome is in the office but we think that he is in to have a chat with the lads in the community and coaching department rather than having any discussions about a return to the first team for North End. The 1995 player of the year hasn't heard of any transfer rumours as well, hey and ho.
1353: And Nugent's former Bury and North End teammate Simon Whaley will need to find a new home after the Canaries announced that the winger has had his contract ended by mutual consent with immediate effect.
1342: Former North End striker David Nugent has signed on until the end of the season at Turf Moor, according to that 24-hour rolling sports news channel. Meanwhile the Clarets have denied any talks have taken place with Sunderland regarding the sale of Tyrone Mears.
1340: SSN reporting that Spurs have rejected a proposed loan move for Scott Loach, the deal included a clause where the Champions League chasers would pay £2 million to make the move permanent in the summer.
1336: Lots of loans going on but not too many permanent transfers knocking about are there? Wigan's signing of Victor Moses is the biggest from the Championship so far although should Adam Johnson make the move that fee would eclipse the teenager's amount.
1327: Niall Quinn has come out this morning voicing his criticism of the transfer window - what are your thoughts on the month-long transfer chase? Get in touch via the above to have your say on transfer deadline day.
1323: Having a wee conversation here about the most memorable deadline days in recent memory and the clear winner, if you're a Man City fan anyway, is the day when City snared the Brazilian from the clutches of Chelsea and threatened to gazump their rivals in red to the signature of Dimitar Berbatov.
1318: So that is the very latest news on the transfer front from the office suite at PR16RU, Treacy is a former team-mate of Eddie Nolan at Blackburn Rovers so should the deal be finalised he will have a familiar face in the dressing room.
1316: Darren Ferguson at the press conference for the Barnsley game said the following: "We are hopeful, we continued talks with a couple of players over the weekend, so we are hopeful.
"Keith is one that we have spoken to but nothing is finalised at the moment. We have got until five o'clock so we are hopeful of getting one, if not two done.
"He's got stacks and stacks of ability, he can play on the left or the right, he is naturally two-footed. He's a good footballer, he's a good age, there were quite a few clubs in for him. We have still got to finalise it but we are hopeful that we can get it done.
"He's not the finished article by a long way, but he's a player with a lot of ability and we have got to make sure we get the best out of him.
"He did okay at Sheffield United, to be fair they were going through a hell of a bad run while he was there. I saw him a couple of times myself, he's an impact player, he can get on the ball and excite people, he's got good balance around him, he can play either flank, which is important because I want players who can play one or two different positions. We are hopeful that we can get it done."
1301: Brian Hickson, the Preston North End kitman is in the offices. I have no idea how to relate this to any transfer speculation other than it might mean he is here to get the spelling of a potential player to stick on the back of a shirt. How do you spell H-A-R-G-R-E-A-V...
1256: North End related news from other divisions with Gareth Ainsworth securing himself an 18-month contract at Wycombe Wanderers.
1254: It remains relatively quiet. We've only had three rumours sent in by email which just tells you how little speculation there is out there. Have none of you been down to the Tickled Trout yet?
1249: Darren Ferguson has completed his pre-match press conference and he's suggested that though nobody has moved out or into the club he's hopeful of getting one or two things tied up before the end of the day.
1238: A new slant on the Scott Cuthbert from Swindon to Preston speculation which was reported in the Daily Mirror last week...
Andreas Nicolai on email: 'Cuthbert could have joined Preston at the weekend but is worried that he won't be guaranteed first team football at Deepdale.'
1233: Sky Sports News reports that Watford have rejected Spurs' bid for Scott Loach. Wigan complete signing of Victor Moses from Crystal Palace, West Brom confirm Andwele Slory transfer and Newcastle confirm that they are in talks with Coventry's Leon Best.
1232: Not transfer related directly but maybe will have reprecussions for any potential Darren Ferugson targets as the BBC report that Mark Cooper has parted company with Peterborough United as boss.
1230: Andy Lonergan made it though the pre-match press conference without being asked about any potential transfer moves or speculation.
1228: The Owen Hargreaves rumour has sprouted wings and appeared on the BBC Deadline Day Live page with Anon sending in a text which reads 'I heard from a very reputable source that Sir Alex is allowing his son Darren take a short loan of Owen Hargreaves to Preston to get match practice before going back United to push for a World Cup place.
1225: A confirmed sighting of Andy Lonergan down at the training ground by PNE Media. We'll bring you any interesting tit-bits of information gleaned from his pre-match press conference.
1212: Training will be over for most of the football clubs up and down the country so perhaps things will now kick into action.
1211: QPR swoop for Birmingham City striker Marcus Bent, on loan for the rest of the season, according to reports on the BBC website.
1203: PNE Media at the training ground report that Ledge and Sedge are down there.
1149: Two thirds of the PNE Media team have departed for Springfields to look after the Barnsley pre-match press conference. I'll keep you posted on what they learn from their trip and let you know any gossip that emerges from the Gaffer's press conference. I can tell you that Andy Lonergan has been pencilled in to speak to the press so that suggests that he is still in the Preston postcode.
1144: A couple of rumours doing the rounds on the fans forum...
Flathead on PNE-Online: 'Burnley in for chaplow.'
Ian99000310 on PNE-Online: 'Had a telephone conversation just 2 mins ago from a rep involved with PNE. They are also a sponsor of PNE and rumblings from the staff at the ground are that Spurs have enquired about Lonners.....'
Spurs are looking for a goalkeeper but most media reports suggest they are going for Watford's Scott Loach. I can tell you that we aren't getting those 'rumblings' at the ground, the only 'rumblings' are coming from my belly as I consider the prospect of lunch.
1129: There is now just five hours and 30 minutes left of the transfer window, I'm sure people will be clued to the yellow ticker for all of this time as we edge ever closer to the conclusion of what most fans regard as the most exciting day of the transfer market.
1118: There has been a flurry of activity in the Championship this morning, with Leon Best now being spotted at Newcastle's training ground. Remember tickets for the Newcastle game are on sale today, click here for full details.
1113: Reports suggest that Leicester are set to sign Alex Bruce on loan from Ipswich. It is reported that this would be a loan until the end of the season.
1105: Wigan have confirmed the signing of Victor Moses on a three-and-a-half year deal. The teenager is another player have been heavily linked with a whole host of Club's but Moses will now ply his trade at the DW Stadium.
1101: Manchester City striker Benjani is now linked with a move to Lancashire side Blackburn Rovers. It will be interesting to see if anybody snaps him up today after being linked with half of the Premiership this week.
1053: West Brom are rumoured to be signing Feyenoord's Andewelde Slory - now there's a name for the commentators!
1042: There were rumours circulating earlier today that former North End right-back Tyrone Mears was all set for a move to Sunderland, but with Spurs full-back Alan Hutton about to complete a deal at the Stadium of Light that would seem to signal the end of that particular deal.
1034: Remember to email in or send in any rumours (see above) you have. All North End fans have their idea of a dream signing for the club, Rooney, Ronaldo or even Messi? If money was no object who would you like to see in the lilywhite shirt?
1024: Of course today is the end of the permanent transfer window, however in a weeks time the loan window opens and represents another opportunity for clubs to strengthen their squad. Last year we picked up Andrew Davies and Lee Williamson on loan after the permanent deadline had ended.
1017: Still nothing to report from around Deepdale. In last year's winter window the only piece of business done was the permanent signing of Ross Wallace. Keep posted to pne.com to find out whether we can add to the signing of Danny Welbeck with more additions to Darren Ferguson's squad.
1008: In the Championship Watford goalkeeper Scott Loach is reportedly subject to an approach from Spurs and former Sheffield United defender Kyle Naughton is said to be on his way to the Riverside to link up with Gordon Strachan.
1006: The yellow bar of SSN is constantly changing as you may expect but a piece of news that some North End fans won't be aware of is of former PNE hero Gareth Ainsworth's departure from QPR to prolong his playing career.
0955: Still very quiet around these parts. And with Darren Ferguson currently taking training down at Springfields I imagine it might stay that way for the next few hours.
0932: Not sure this is transfer news but more of a meeting of legends from the past but here goes...
From Tom C on email: 'I just popped into ASDA at Fulwood and low and behold whilst queueing up for a Sausage Butty in the Shop I saw Tom Finney, Paul Gascoigne and Mark Rankine sat around a table enjoying a big mac meal along with Trevor Hemmings and Derek Shaw! Exciting times!!!'
0930: Middlesbrough are on the verge of signing a full-back according to SSN. Tottenham's Kyle Naughton is on his way to Teeside on loan.
0926: Sky Sports News is reporting that Newcastle midfielder Geremi joins Turkish club Ankaragucu and that reminds me that tickets for the trip to Newcastle are on sale today. Full details here
0916: The national newspapers have no time for Preston North End. A quick scan through their pages reveals nothing Deepdale related, though I'm prepared to be proven wrong if you've spotted anything.
0906: It seems the Tickled Trout has a new rival...
From Tom H on the email: 'I just popped into Sainsburys at Deepdale and low and behold whilst queueing up for a Bacon Butty in the Cafe i saw Martin Woods, Andrew Taylor and Jason Roberts sat around a table enjoying a full english breakfast along with David Taylor and Derek Shaw! Exciting times!!!'
0903: The headline 'David Nugent to Preston' always seems to surface on transfer deadline day. Sadly I think our cousins down the road at Turf Moor have a head start on us on that one. Though Portsmouth are short of brass so we might have made a cheeky bid?
0901: The Tickled Trout seems to be a popular place for transfer dealings over the years. We might send a man down there to camp out in the car park Sky Sports News style.
0856: Rev Keith on the email has had his ear close to the ground, or has he been reading the fans forums? He's got a long list of ins and outs including Lonners, SSL, Shumi, Sedge Elliott, Nolan and Chilvers all set to depart with Woods, Adam, Some Keeper, Taylor and a United twin all coming through the doors.
0852: Things are pretty quiet in the PNE offices at the moment. There is no sign of major transfer dealings as yet... but there is plenty of time.
0844: The arrival of Darren Ferguson earlier this month certainly got the Deepdale transfer grapevine shaking. Since the former Peterborough boss arrived we've been linked with half the Manchester United reserve team, half the Peterborough first team and just about anyone else who seems half decent and available. Names which have already been mentioned this month include Aaron McLean and Paul Coutts from the Posh, Fabio, Rafael, Febian Brandy, Reece Brown, Ritchie De Laet, Rodrigo Possebon and bizarrely Owen Hargreaves from Manchester United. Elsewhere we have also been linked with Martin Woods from Doncaster, Keith Treacy from Blackburn, Scott Cuthbert from Swindon, Taylor from Middlesbrough and Bond from Barrow.
0841: So transfer deadline day arrives in earnest. The day Sky Sports News goes all psychadelic and the rumour mill goes ten to the dozen. We'll keep you abreast of all the latest transfer gossip which might effect Preston North End, either directly with comings and goings at Deepdale or simply Championship transfer dealings.
