Chairman Derek Shaw is aiming for a Play-Off push following a good end to January and the transfer window closing.
Shaw was instrumental in helping Darren Ferguson secure three transfer targets during the January window, two of those coming on a hectic last day of business at Deepdale. The fax machines were in operation right up until the last moments to secure signatures of Keith Treacy and Paul Coutts and the Chairman believes that last minute deals were always going to be likely in the current financial climate.
"Everybody sits and waits and tries to pounce at the very last minute," the Chairman told pne.com after the English transfer window closed.
"Quite frankly I think as much work could be done in one week as much as four because very little happens in the opening three weeks. With money being very tight in the game at the moment things are very drawn out.
"We have done two deals today and we are very pleased to support Darren in getting the players in who he wanted."
As well as bringing Coutts and Treacy to the Club to go alongside the loan signing of Danny Welbeck, it's also significant that the Lilywhites have fended off intense interest for the Club's prize assets including Sean St. Ledger. The Chairman is now looking forward to concentrating on the league and a push up the table.
Shaw said: "We couldn't have done this without the help of our major shareholder and we are all very pleased. Our six points out of six has made the league position look a little bit healthier and lets hope that we can push on and get a Play-Off place."
