Darren Ferguson has revealed that Danny Welbeck has returned to Deepdale and will be fit for the visit of Forest. The Man United forward has missed the last three games with a knee injury, but has trained at Carrington for the last two days and will be back at Springfields on Thursday to prepare for the visit of Billy Davies' side.
"He's fit for Saturday. It is a big boost," the gaffer told the press after Tuesday night's draw with Doncaster Rovers. "The boys were pleased to see him in the dressing room before the game.
"He trained today, is going to train tomorrow at Carrington and will train with us on Thursday and fingers crossed he'll be fit for Saturday. He's back and that's a bonus for everyone.
"It was a slight worry, but we were in United's hands. They were very cautious, because he's a young player with a lot of potential and they are not going to take a chance on him, which I understand.
"If he hadn't got through training yesterday and today they would have looked at it again, but he has got through fine and he has given us the okay and he will be ready for Saturday."
