Preston goalkeeper Wayne Henderson feels good on a personal note after playing 45 minutes for North End against Leicester.

Henderson came on in place of Andy Lonergan at half time who suffered an injury to his groin and the Irish shot stopper was glad to take to the field again in front of the Deepdale crowd.

Speaking to pne.com, Henderson said:

"I was hoping to get a game before the end of the season; I wish that I got it under different circumstances but it was great to get some game time again for Preston."

Henderson was first called into action soon after the half started and North End's number 22's first contribution was to calmly claim a Leicester corner.

"It was nice to take the pressure off and help me settle in, obviously the adrenaline is running more than anything so it is good to get in and make a couple of saves as well.

"You have got to be ready to play and approach every game as if you are playing. You have to make sure that you are ready to start the game and do the same preparation the night before."

Despite conceding from Andy King, Henderson pulled off a magnificent save in the second half to deny Martyn Waghorn, a moment that Henderson has been waiting patiently for.

"It felt good to make that save in front of the home fans as well. I have waited so long now to get a game for Preston so it was great.

"Hopefully now we can get a better result away at Reading but on a personal note I am delighted to have played.

"When I came it was difficult to be knocked out of the team when I had my injury, it has taken a lot of hard work to get back to this stage but I am very grateful.

"I have missed that rush of adrenaline, I had it last season playing at Grimsby but I was really glad to come back today and play at home."
