First year scholar Seanan Clucas came in for praise from David Unsworth after Monday's reserve win over Accrington. The Irish midfielder was used as a right back in the first half and then played 45 minutes at centre half and he impressed the first team coach with his display and afterwards he told PNE.Com he was happy to do a job anywhere to help the team.
"[Centre back] is not really a position I have played, but any time they want to give me a job I will do it. I went into right back and did my best and then I went in to centre half and thought I did alright, so I can't complain.
"I'm known for getting in there and getting stuck in and if it has to be done I will get in there and do it and do the best I can."
The side didn't play as well as they have in recent weeks, but ground out another win, to keep a fantastic run going, something they are looking to extend, even with three games in as many days: "It was a hard pitch, but we can't use that as an excuse. We grounded out the win and that was the most important thing for us today. It maybe wasn't a performance up to our standards, but a win's a win.
"It's been a very good run. Ever since we got beaten to [To Stockport on March 15th] we have been on a very good run [winning 11 and drawing one of 12 games]. After that game Unsy had us in, the gaffer had a go at us and Jamie and Rammers all got a reaction out of us and hopefully now we can keep that run going to the end of the season.
"Tiredness is probably going to be a big factor, but as Unsy has said, it is all mental for us and hopefully we can get through it and it will be good to get onto Deepdale on Tuesday and Wednesday. Hopefully we'll take the job on from Monday, get another win on Tuesday and then again on Wednesday."
The young reserve side still have an outside chance of capturing the Totesport.com West Division title, if Wrexham lose on Wednesday and they can put five past Blackpool and this would be another wonderful achievement for the young PNE players.
"It would be nice to win the league and hopefully someone can do us a favour and beat Wrexham and then it will be down to us on Wednesday.
"It would be nice to follow up the youth title with the reserves, it would be a brilliant achievement. I'm just a first year scholar, so to win two titles would be amazing and we'll see what happens.
"It was brilliant picking up the youth league trophy on Saturday. It was nice to get on the pitch, get the crowd's applause - it was a fantastic experience and one that I enjoyed."
You can see the reserves in Cup action at 2pm at Deepdale on Tuesday when they face Oldham in the Totesport.com Cup semi-finals and then again at Deepdale at 2pm on Wednesday, when they face Blackpool in their final league game.
