Preston North End will be hoping to welcome back Craig Morgan and Keith Treacy for Saturday's Lancashire derby against Burnley.
Morgan featured in the last 15 minutes of Wales' defeat in Montenegro and the central defender will be fit for the trip to Turf Moor following an injury scare over the international break.
The defender exclusively told pne.com: "I had a little scare with my big toe but it was fine for the game. I only got 15 minutes so I am raring to play again and feel fine for Burnley, no problems at all.
"I'm fully fit; I have just missed one training session with it so there is nothing wrong with it at all. It will be a massive game and a derby so everyone is really up for it."
This has come as welcome news to Darren Ferguson who will be hoping to see Wayne Brown in contention for Saturday's game along with Morgan and Sean St. Ledger. Morgan said:
"Across the whole team when everyone is fit there is competition for all places which is what we all really need."
Another injury concern for Ferguson was winger Keith Treacy who pulled out of the Republic of Ireland squad after injuring his groin at Bramall Lane, but the Irishman is hoping to also be fit for the trip to Turf Moor.
Treacy told pne.com: "It is still feeling a bit niggly at the moment but I will keep doing my rehab, keep doing what Jacko [physio] tells me and hopefully I will be ready for the Burnley game.
"I wanted to play well and prove a point to people at Sheffield and I felt that we were doing okay and that I was doing okay. But my groin wasn't feeling right and I thought if I stayed on it would have hampered the team so it was best that I went off.
In regards to Saturday's game, Treacy went onto say: "Having played for Blackburn for many years, there is a bit of history there so I will be doing my best to get on the pitch and try to play well."
Despite not being able to travel to Armenia with St. Ledger and the rest of the Irish squad, Treacy has still been in contact with Giovanni Trappatoni and believes that his game is benefiting from his international and Club managers.
"Me and [Giovanni Trappatoni] are working very closely together at the moment, he is passing his knowledge down and I am taking everything on board that he says. I think that I am benefiting from it as well as benefiting from the Gaffer here as well.
"I have spoken a little bit to Ledge and he enjoyed the game. Obviously it was nice to get the win and all but the big one is on tomorrow night."
Like Morgan, Treacy is buoyant about potentially having a near fully fit squad for the hectic September schedule. Treacy said:
"We have got nearly everybody back now; Coutts will be coming back during the week from Scotland U21 duty so we have nearly got a full squad to pick from."
