Monday's 2-0 win over Wolves at Deepdale was not only significant in the career of Paul McKenna but also in the history of Preston North End.
The game was McKenna's 350th PNE appearance which took him to 15th in the all time leading appearance charts, while Graham Alexander is now just one game behind.
Maybe more significantly as far as the Club is concerned was the statistic that it was the 2000th league game since relegation from the top flight back in 1961.
It was just a year after Sir Tom Finney's retirement and the big problem was a lack of goals, with just 43 in 42 league games. The goals tally was by far the lowest in the division, with Newcastle, who were relegated along with North End, scoring an impressive 86.
It might have been a disappointing season in terms of relegation but it did see the debuts of four players who all went on to join the 300 club in Alan Spavin, Tony Singleton, George Ross and Alan Kelly.
