Wayne Henderson made a long-awaited return to the Preston team in the 2009-2010 season after missing most of the previous season through injury.
The keeper underwent a successful microdisectomy surgery in 2008, and continued his rehabilitation in the reserves before taking the jersey at half time against at home to Leicester in April 2010 after Andy Lonergan suffered an injury.
Born in Dublin, Henderson has six full international caps for the Republic of Ireland to his name. The first came against Sweden in March 2006, brilliantly denying Henrik Larsson a certain goal in the second half.
He started his career at Cherry Orchard, the same club Roy Keane began his career with, and has previously played for Notts County, Tamworth, Wycombe, Grimsby, and Brighton.
After recovering from injury, Henderson signed a one year extension to his contract, with the option of a further year in March 2010. He will now be hoping to provide Andy Lonergan with some competition for the number one jersey at Deepdale.
