Chris Brown was an instant success following his arrival at Deepdale in January 2008 from Championship side Norwich City for an undisclosed fee in the region of £400,000.

He provided the PNE attack with a much-needed physical presence and was instrumental in our escape from relegation. His brace at Charlton in March 2008 will be long-remembered by those present, especially his second strike which was a contender for goal of the season.

The Durham-born frontman followed that up with the winner against Burnley at Deepdale and then cemented his place further into Deepdale folklore with a double against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road in November 2008 which went a long way to securing the first win by PNE at the other end of the M55 for fifteen years.

Brown started his career with Sunderland - the club he supported as a boy - and spent time on loan with Doncaster and Hull while gaining experience. Twelve months before his Deepdale move, he departed the Stadium of Light for Carrow Road having scored nine goals in 66 appearances for the Mackens, joining the East Anglian club for a fee of £325,000.

A hamstring injury hampered the early stages of his Canaries career, and he went on to make 15 appearances for them in 2007.

The last campaign saw the big frontman battle a sciatica injury, which meant he had to spend part of the season on the sidelines, however, when Brown is in full fettle there is little that stops the popular striker from getting the goals as illustrated in pre-season and the start of the 2009 campaign.
