One of many former Sunderland players currently at Deepdale, 'Sleeves', as he is known in the dressing room, provides pace, directness and sharp shooting to Alan Irvine's attack.

Signed on the deadline of the 2008 September transfer window in the deal that sent fans favourite Matt Hill to Molinuex, Elliott will be hoping that his lively displays for PNE will see him add to his nine caps for Ireland.

Elliott learned his trade at Manchester City before being snapped up for a bargain £125,000 by Sunderland in 2004. The Dublin-born frontman made an instant impact for Mick McCarthy's team, scoring 15 goals as the Black Cats finished Championship Champions in 2005.

The striker struggled to establish himself in the Premier League though and despite scoring impressive goals against Manchester United and Newcastle United, he and his team-mates struggled.

Injuries blighted his season as the Black Cats returned to the Championship in 2006 and one year later, McCarthy signed him for a second time when he took him to Wolverhampton Wanderers. However the Irishman rarely got the opportunity to play as a striker for Wolves and struggled to rediscover his form of old.

Elliott notched six goals in his debut season at Deepdale, including a memorable double at his former stomping ground Molineux in North End's glorious 3-1 defeat of the eventual Championship champions in January 2009.

He will be hoping to add to that total as PNE look to go one better in the 2009/10 campaign.
