Trotman made the perfect start to the 2009-2010 season with North End, scoring with his first touch as a substitute in the 5-1 League Cup win over Morecambe in August 2010.
He is a promising young defender with a real eye for goal, scoring at crucial times for Huddersfield and Southampton, where he spent the majority of last season on loan.
Preston signed Levenshulme-born Trotman from Oldham in January 2008, beating a host of other clubs to his signature. The fee of £500,000 paid by PNE shows just how much potential the 6'2 centre-back has.
Oldham signed Trotman after he was released by Burnley in 2006, quickly establishing himself as a regular for the Lactics the following season.
Injury has held his career at Preston up to an extent and in the summer of 2010 he was placed on the transfer list.
