The Edinburgh born defender moved to the Lilywhites on a free transfer after his contract at Old Trafford expired in the summer of 2010.
The 23-year-old had been at United for six years, initially signing as a winger, but his versatility has seen him play in a variety of positions for the Red Devils. Nicknamed 'Greyhound', the Scottish U21 international is noted for his bombarding pacey runs from full-back.
Gray's first team experience at Manchester United was limited to just the one Carling Cup appearance, but the defender has gained first experience during spells at Royal Antwerp and Plymouth Argyle, as well as captaining the Manchester United reserve side.
After signing for the Lilywhites, Gray has found himself featuring at right back where the Scotsman has already showed his prowess when making advancing runs and joining in on attacks.
However, the 2010/11 season ended in unfortunate circumstances for Gray, as he sustained a broken leg in the draw against Norwich City at Carrow Road.
Gray returned to full fitness during the early stages of the 2011/12 season and is likely to be battling it out with young prodigy Conor McLaughlin for the right back berth.
