A February 2010 Darren Ferguson deadline day signing, Paul Coutts was little known to Preston fans, but has since made his name at Deepdale with a string of powerful and energetic midfield displays.
Coutts is now one half of an exciting young central midfield partnership with Matty James.
It was not the first time Darren Ferguson had signed the young midfielder, having previously brought him to Peterborough from Cove Rangers in 2008 in their League One promotion season.
The 21 year-old Scot grabbed his first North End goal in March 2010 in the 2-2 draw with Alan Irvine's Sheffield Wednesday side at Deepdale. It came from a typical late run into the box followed by a neat finish past Lee Grant.
Coutts has also been selected for the Scottish U21 side, and is definitely one to watch now and in the future as PNE look to win promotion from the Championship.
