PNE's women got back to winning ways with a convincing victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

The Lilywhites girls defeated their Yorkshire rivals 4-1 thanks to a brace of goals from Linny Craig plus further strikes from Laura Walker and Gemma Watson.

Chris Stammers' side opened the scoring just after the half hour mark when Walker's intended cross was not dealt with, flying over the goalkeeper's head and into the back of the net.

Linny Craig doubled North End's advantage just before the break, grabbing her first goal of the game when she produced the goods, hitting the Owls on the break before slotting the ball under Maslin the Sheffield Wednesday keeper.

Wednesday hit back after the break and grabbed a goal within five minutes of the restart when Severns' cross was not dealt with effectively and the ball fell to Rachel Lee who struck home from just outside the box.

But the vistors' hopes of a comeback were soon snuffed out when Craig doubled her personal tally just before the hour mark, turning the ball home from Taberner's long throw.

Preston's fourth and final goal of the afternoon came five minutes from the end of the game when substitute Hannah Bailey broke clear before providing a pinpoint cross into the path of Watson who slotted home.

The only blot on an otherwise satisfying afternoon came just before the end of the game when goalscorer Craig received a red card fo inappropriate behaviour.
