PNECET Running Free Holiday Clubs With Get Stuck In

13 July 2021

Preston North End Community and Education Trust is running a number of free holiday clubs across Preston, catering for primary school children who are eligible for free school meals, as part of Spring North’s Get Stuck In programme.

The Holiday Clubs will be running from Monday 2nd August until Saturday 28th August at PlayFootball Preston, St Stephens Catholic Primary School, Ribbleton Infant and Junior School, and Preston Grange Primary School.

The Holiday Clubs will allow children who access free school meals to eat more healthily and become more active during the school holidays by taking part in fun and engaging activities, as well as ensuring they remain safe and are prevented from becoming socially isolated.

The PNECET Holiday Clubs will engage children through various initiatives that follow the PSHE national curriculum and are delivered on the Premier League Primary Stars programme, including projects that focus on healthy lifestyle choices, mental wellbeing, current societal topics and physical activities based on a variety of sports.

The PNECET Holiday Clubs will run from 10am until 2pm across all four sites, with a mini club for children aged five to seven-years-old and a junior club for children aged eight to 11-years-old.

A full timetable of the four PNECET Holiday Club sites can be found below.

PNECET Head of Education Liam Sealey said: “We are pleased to be working with Get Stuck In and Spring North to continue our food provision service for vulnerable children during the school summer holidays.

“PNECET has previously offered a food collection service at Deepdale and activity clubs in school half-terms, for children who would normally access free school meals.

“By working together with Spring North and Get Stuck In, we are looking forward to providing an offer that will provide children with a free lunch every day, as well as plenty of valuable education workshops and stimulating physical activity sessions.

“It is our goal to provide an education pathway for people of all ages and from all backgrounds, and by offering such an extensive and valuable range of our existing primary school workshops to children accessing the Get Stuck In Holiday Clubs, we believe children will have the opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills in a number of areas.

“We understand that many families who rely on their children receiving free school meals can face financial difficulties outside of term-time. We are confident that our offer will give those families peace of mind while keeping children safe, active and fed throughout August.”

Places for the Get Stuck In Holiday Clubs will be allocated to children who are eligible for free school meals as a priority. Children will be signposted to their closest Get Stuck In club where possible, including those being run by other providers in Preston.

Other providers include Discovery Vine Holiday Club, Fishwick Rangers Youth and Community Development Scheme, Greenwich Leisure, Preston United, Giddy Kids Playcentre and the Foxton Centre. Across all sites, provision is available for children aged four to 16-years-old.

To book a place for your child on the Get Stuck In Holiday Clubs across any location, please click here and select the provider best suited to your location and child’s age.
