Schools Rewarded Under ‘Class of the Week’ Initiative For Blackpool Fixture!

3 April 2022

Preston North End Community and Education Trust [PNECET] is welcoming two more ‘Classes of the Week’ from local primary schools to the highly anticipated West Lancashire derby at Deepdale in midweek!

All pupils in a successfully nominated ‘Class of the Week’ receive a match ticket, and to allow those children to attend the game alongside an adult, the same number of adult tickets are also provided to the school.

Classes can be nominated for any reason, whether it be in relation to their achievements in the classroom, during their PE lessons, going above and beyond at their school outside of lesson time or for any other deserving cause.

Among the rewarded schools under the Deepdale lights on Tuesday are a Year 1 class from one of the Trust’s partner primary schools, Ashton Primary School, who have learned and improved their skills in throwing and catching lessons over a recent six-week programme.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 class from Holy Family Catholic Primary School are also being invited to watch North End take on Blackpool, in recognition of how they have quickly accustomed to playing a new sport, Rugby League, for the first time.

Traineeship Coordinator Jack Mountain said: “We’re delighted to be continuing the Class of the Week initiative by inviting two more schools to the exciting home fixture against Blackpool!

“It’s fantastic to have the support of Preston North End to provide these tickets for more deserving school pupils who have achieved so much in school recently.

“We hope that, along with the provision that we offer already within school to support with the delivery of PE, the schools’ visit to Deepdale can inspire their pupils to continue to achieve their goals both inside and outside the classroom.”

Nominations for classes from all primary schools in Preston and the surrounding areas are welcomed from school staff members and can be sent via email to jack.mountain@pne.com. Parents and family members wishing to nominate a class should contact their school.

During 2021, PNECET engaged with almost 3,000 primary school pupils, working with 45 primary schools as part of the Premier League Primary Stars programme.
