Preston North End Community and Education Trust is hosting a free football talent identification event for girls aged 13 to 14-years-old on Tuesday 30th August as part of the Girls Talent Inclusion programme.

Girls Talent ID Event Welcomes 35 Participants For Potential England Talent Pathway Opportunities

9 June 2022

The England Talent ID Pathway provides potential routes for girls to represent England's junior national teams.

Talent spotters will be in attendance at the event which will be held at Christ the King Catholic High School in Preston from 12 noon until 3pm.

Players will be placed into pre-arranged teams and will meet their team-mates on the day.

The Trust held its first Girls Talent Inclusion event in June, when 35 girls were involved in the talent identification event, also at Christ the King High School.

Schools Provision Officer Sagwati Malabi, who leads on the Trust’s women’s and girls’ football provision, and also sits on the advistory board for the north west region of the programme, said: “We are looking forward to hosting another girls’ talent identification event to celebrate the many talented young footballers we have in our region.

“We welcomed 35 girls and referred nine of those onto the next step of the England Talent ID Pathway at our last event which was a great success and showcased the high levels of ability among players in our area.

“Our next event promises to be equally as successful, particularly at what is an incredibly exciting time to be involved in women’s and girls’ football following the Lionesses’ success at the Women’s European Championships last month.

“There’s no reason why we can’t look to unearth some of the Lionesses of the future from these events as part of the Girls Talent Inclusion programme.”

Girls will play approximately seven to eight-minute games over the two hours of delivery, with talent-spotters watching all the players throughout the event.

No players will be informed of whether they have been selected for the talent pathway until at least one day after the event. Players will receive an email after the event.

The Trust wants all players to enjoy the experience and express themselves without any sense of pressure.

The deadline to register is Thursday 25th August at 5pm.

Parents or guardians wishing to register their child for the event can do so by visiting pne.com/discovermytalent. For more information, please email sagwati.malabi@pne.com.
