Alex Neil’s side will look to build on five points from their last three games as they host Brentford, managed by new boss Thomas Frank, who took over last week, following former manager Dean Smith’s move to Aston Villa.
 
The two sides have some exciting tussles over the past few seasons and will hope to entertain again under the lights on a Wednesday night, rather than the usual Tuesday, with the split of the Championship games by the EFL in 2018/19.
 
It is the first of two home games in space of a few days, with Rotherham United following the Bees to PR1 at the weekend, with North End hoping for two good performances and the points to back them up, in what will be two tough games.

Goals from Alan Browne, a brace from Callum Robinson and another from Tom Barkhuizen gave North End the points in a seven-goal thriller at Deepdale.

The Lilywhites went three up in 23 minutes as Browne nipped in for the opener, before Robinson half-volleyed a superb second, with Barkhuizen deflecting home Lukas Nmecha’s shot for the third.
 
Sergi Canos and Ollie Watkins reduced the deficit either side of half-time, but Robinson’s eighth of the season made it 4-2, before a nervy last five minutes came after Neal Maupay fired home from close range after a left wing corner.
 
Manager Alex Neil made four changes to the side that drew at Hull City, welcoming back Tom Barkhuizen, Ben Pearson and Callum Robinson, as well as re-introducing Paul Huntington, who captained the side, instead of Jordan Storey at centre half.
 
And it was a blistering start from the Lilywhites, who found themselves three up before the mid-point of the opening period.
The first came on five minutes as Daniel Johnson fed the ball into Robinson on edge of ‘D’; CR7 got a shot off that came off Nmecha, but Browne was the first to react, doing brilliantly to beat Daniel Bentley to the ball and touch it past him, with just enough power to take it into the goal.
The second came on 12 minutes as Darnell Fisher on right played the ball into Browne. The Irishman’s backheel went back to Fisher, who laid it into Robinson on the edge of the ‘D’ and a brilliant first-time half volley arrowed into the bottom left hand corner from 20 yards for the striker’s seventh of a positive season so far.
 
The third at the half’s mid-point was a bizarre goal. Yoann Barbet’s back pass to Bentley was picked up by the keeper and a free kick was given 17 yards out. It was a brilliant free kick, Johnson through Browne’s legs to Nmecha, the No.45 unleashing a vicious shot that came off Barkhuizen on the end of the Brentford wall taking it into the bottom left hand corner.
 
Nmecha was involved in everything up front and he was denied his first PNE goal just a minute later after a brilliant run and shot from 18 yards, Bentley getting down low to save.
 
But just before the half hour mark the Bees had one back, Canos with stunning strike from 25 yards in a left-hand channel into top right-hand corner of the goal, Maxwell having no chance.
 
Another Nmecha effort with stunning shot from right hand corner of the box, saw Bentley turn it behind for a corner with nine minutes to go in what was a thrilling 45 minutes of football.
 
And two minutes later the on loan Manchester City man almost won PNE a penalty, Dalsgaard bringing him down right on the line on the left-hand side of the box, referee Scott Duncan adjudging it to have been right on the line.
 
The second half was no less frenetic, beginning with Ben Pearson exchanging a brilliant one-two with Nmecha, before drilling a shot from ten yards than Bentley beat around the post for a corner.
 
But the fifth goal of the game came from the visitors 11 minutes into the second half as Watkins cut in from the left, shooting, the effort deflecting off Fisher, taking it past Maxwell into the bottom left-hand corner.
But the next goal was North End’s once again and Robinson once again. It came from more superb build-up play as Johnson played a one-two with Nmecha, before running forward at pace and sliding the ball into his close friend and PNE No.7 who slid the ball first time past Bentley into the middle of the goal.
There was only one in it again with five minutes to go, when a corner from the left by substitute Benrahma was turned home at the back post by Maupay, into the roof of the net, to make it 4-3.
 
But despite the best efforts of both teams, that was the end of the scoring as North End made it four games unbeaten with three more valuable points.

Tickets are now on general sale from the ticket office at Deepdale, either to be loaded to your member card or via a paper ticket. For more information on member cards and their usage, click here.
 
For those turning up and buying on the day, purchases can be made in person at both the Sir Tom Finney ticket office and also use the Invincibles Pavilion ticket office, which can be used to buy tickets for any part of the ground, not just the Pavilion. The Sir Tom Finney ticket office is open from 9am on a matchday and the Invincibles Pavilion ticket office is open from 6pm.
Tickets can be purchased at Deepdale from 9am until 5pm on Tuesday and from 9am until kick-off on the day of the game, both in person and over the ticket hotline – 0344 856 1966.

Away end tickets are available on the day, there are no increases for matchday purchases. Visiting Bees supporters can buy from the away ticket office next to the Bill Shankly Kop on Lowthorpe Road, with cash and card payments accepted, which will open from 6.30pm.
 
For home fans travelling to the game the Leyland shuttle bus will be in operation for the game, stopping at the usual points; pick up times as usual.
