Goalkeeper Jamie Jones signed for Preston North End from Leyton Orient prior to the 2014/15 season.

The shot-stopper, born in Kirkby, played for Premier League side Everton at Academy level, but was released by the Toffees after failing to break into the club’s first team.

From Goodison Park, Jones joined League One outfit Leyton Orient, signing a two-year contract with the London Club.

He made his debut for Orient in a 4-2 win over Southend at Roots Hall in a Football League Trophy clash.

The ‘keeper battled with Glenn Morris for the O’s starting spot between the posts, and, following Morris’ departure from the Matchroom Stadium in 2010, Jones was named the club’s No.1.

Overall, the stopper made 179 appearances for Leyton Orient and was a key part of Russell Slade’s side as they made it to the League One Play-Off final at Wembley in 2014.

The O’s were beaten by Rotherham United at the national stadium, and although Jones was offered a new contract with Orient, the ‘keeper signed for Preston.

Jones started the 2014/15 season as North End’s No.1 between the sticks, making 20 appearances for the Club.

He later joined Coventry City and Rochdale respectively on loan before returning to Deepdale towards the end of the campaign.
