Promising young goalkeeper Jordan Pickford signed for PNE on a season-long loan deal from Premier League side Sunderland in July 2015.

The 21-year-old ‘keeper has been at the Stadium of Light since he was eight-years-old, and signed a new four year deal ahead of joining the Lilywhites.

The highly-rated England U20 international joins PNE to gain experience in the Championship, after spending the 2014/15 season on loan at Bradford City, and was in goal for the Bantams in the only game that North End lost at Deepdale that season.

The custodian was given the No.1 shirt at Deepale, after PNE beat a host of other clubs to his signature.

The Sunderland-born stopper ended the 2014/15 season with a trip away with the England U20s squad to the Toulon tournament before travelling with Dick Advocaat’s first team to America and Canada.

It was on that tour where he made his first team debut for the Black Cats, playing the full 90 minutes against Mexican side Pachuca.

Having played in North End's final pre-season game of the summer upon joining the Lilywhites, Pickford made his league debut in PNE's first game back in the Championship, keeping a cleansheet in a 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough on Sunday 9th August.
