Right back Marnick Vermijl joined PNE on a permanent basis after spending the 2015/16 season on loan at Deepdale.

The defender started his career with Manchester United before moving to Hillsbrough in February 2015. He made eleven appearances for the owls in the remaining months of the 2014/15 season, before joining North End later that year.

After featuring in a number of pre-season games, the Belgian made his PNE debut on the opening day of the 2015/16 Championship season, in a 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough at Deepdale.

The Belgian put pen to paper on a three-year-deal on deadline day on 30th August 2016, and brings some much needed competition to the right back spot.

Marnick Vermijl became the fourth player to sign permanently for the club in the summer following loan spells last season.

The full back demonstrated what he is capable of in his first few weeks with the Club during his first spell by scoring the winner in the club’s 1-0 win over Watford in the League Cup.

Vermijl has also featured for his country on a number of occasions, playing at all youth levels from U17s through to the U21s squad, making over 40 appearances for his country, and scoring five goals from defence.
