In June 2016 Preston North End secured the signing Palermo striker Simon Makinok on a one-year loan deal, effective as of 1st July 2016.

Makienok came to the Club with Championship experience after spending the 2015/16 season on loan at The Valley with Charlton Athletic.

The striker spent the early stages of his career in Denmark before moving to Italian club Palermo in 2014.

Before his move to Serie A, Makienok had scored 35 goals in 74 appearances for Brondby in the Danish Superliga.

Makienok also represented Denmark at youth level from the U19s, and has gone on to make six appearances for the senior side since making his debut in a 3-0 win over Czech Republic in a World Cup qualifier in March 2013.

The Næstved-born forward is 6ft7in and his height and attributes bring a different dimension to PNE’s attacking options going into the new season.
