Manager Graham Westley has revealed to PNE Player that David Healy will not be joining his set up.
Speaking to the Club’s online video channel the North End boss said he had made the decision after considering the opinions of the Club’s supporter base: “I’ve brought that to a conclusion,” he said. “I have spoken to David this morning to let him know that we are not going to proceed with that at this moment in time.
“It is a difficult one, because David has so much proven quality, but my feeling is that we’ve had a revolution at this Club this summer. It has been a difficult time, at the back end of last year, the fans have been through a lot. Then we’ve had a summer of revolution where they have been brilliant in getting behind the new team. They’ve had to put their trust in me and they’ve done that and the feeling that I’ve got from the fanbase and the feeling the players have got is terrific.
“But as we are bringing ourselves together as a Club, making a controversial move on my part would be the wrong thing to do.
“There is a body of supporters who have a strong feeling against the move and I think it would be the wrong thing to do at this moment in time. We need the emotion of the Club to be moving in the right direction and although there is a lot of understanding that we’d want to bring that quality in, I really do think that everyone needs to know that decisions are being made for the right reasons at the Club and to make a move that is controversial at this moment in time is not the right thing to do.
“We need to breed the togetherness, show the unity and make sure that the pride really does go back into this badge.”
