Sir Tom Finney Stand Tannoy

19 November 2012

Sir Tom Finney Stand users are advised that the standard commercial use tannoy in the stand has currently been switched off.

However, it should be noted that the Club’s safety public address system is still in full working order in this area, if needed, so that important safety announcements can still be made.

As supporters who regularly sit in the Sir Tom Finney Stand will be well aware, the tannoy system has been slowly but surely failing for some time now.

In conjunction with the Club’s Safety Advisory Group and in consultation with Lancashire County Council, the licensing authority for the stadium, it was agreed that from the last home game, the system would be completely turned off.

This system is for the 'corporate' announcements and not safety announcements.

The system will cost close to £50,000 to be refurbished and the Club are currently sourcing the financing to undertake this work, however, in the interim period, rather than have a system that sounds poor, it has been turned off altogether.

Hopefully, this doesn't affect supporters’ enjoyment of games too much; but rest assured, your safety is not put at risk by this decision and the licensing authorities with the stadium were fully consulted before the decision was made.
