Duck Delights Guild Crowds

7 September 2012

Deepdale Duck was joined by members of the North End staff and a superb giant PNE player to delight the tens of thousands on the streets of the City for the Guild community procession on Friday.

The Duck and the unique giant footballer, brilliantly created by Thingumajig Theatre in Hebden Bridge, went off sixth in the parade of floats from schools and community groups, which had more than 8,500 participants and over 100,000 on the streets to witness the parade.

Speaking about the event Sir Tom Finney Foundation manager Gary Robinson was overwhelmed with the response: “It was one of the best experiences I have had as part of Preston North End. The response and goodwill from those who were out on the streets was tremendous – I would like to thank everyone for their support and the passion they showed.

“The effort of those community groups to prepare their floats has been amazing, so to be a part of this unified celebration of our fantastic City is great for everyone at the Club,” he said.

The Club would like to thank Preston City Council and the Thingumajig Theatre Group for their support in the parade and all those proud Prestonians and North End supporters who made the walk so enjoyable.
