Hartlepool United Match Preview

17 September 2012

PNE will return to npower League One action on Tuesday evening when they host Hartlepool United

Preston North End v Hartlepool United
Tuesday 18th September, 7,45pm
npower League One
 Deepdale

Preston North End will get straight back into action on Tuesday night when they host Hartlepool United at Deepdale.

North End boss Graham Westley will be looking for an immediate reaction after their 2-1 defeat against Crawley Town at the weekend.

One positive to take from the display was the Lilywhites never say die attitude, with Paul Huntington scoring in stoppage time as North End were inches away from taking a point.

Meanwhile the visitors will be hitting the road once again following one of their longest trips of the season against Bournemouth at the weekend.

United conceded a stoppage time equaliser against the Cherries in a 1-1 draw and will be looking to make it four points out of six on the road before returning to Victoria Park on Saturday.

Team News
PNE manager Graham Westley revealed in his pre-match press conference that six of his players are carrying knocks and are doubtful for Tuesday’s clash against Neale Cooper’s Hartlepool.

Captain John Mousinho and Keith Keane are both out through injury, whilst long term absentees Lee Holmes and Lee Trundle are also missing.

Joel Byrom will be pushing for a start after completing his second 45 minutes against Crawley Town at the weekend.

The Pools
Visitors Hartlepool United will not have fond memories of playing Preston North End last season, losing both contests by 1-0 in League One.

United will be heading to Deepdale looking for their first away win of the season, which was snatched out of their hands in the dying minutes against Bournemouth at the weekend.

So far this season Hartlepool have won one, drawn two and lost two of their opening five league matches, but know a win on Tuesday will draw them level on points with PNE.

In recent weeks, United have added to their squad drafting in Sunderland winger Craig Lynch whilst veteran striker Steve Howard is currently enjoying his second stint at the club.
