"Already we have had hundreds of likes and retweets as well as comments that number in their thousands on Facebook and we hope even more of our fans 'like' us and begin to follow us on Twitter.
"And with a live Twitter feed now available on the home page of PNE.Com we feel it is a great way to keep fans who can't be at the games in touch with the action through the games.
"The interactive minute-by-minute match updates on the site for the past couple of years have proved very popular with plenty of fan interaction, but we feel even more opportunities are open to us by doing the same service through Twitter.
Explaining the reasons why the Club has opted to use Twitter this season, Jonathon Swift from the media department said: “The growth of social media in recent years has been phenomenal. We now have 7,000 supporters interacting with the Club on a permanent basis on both Twitter (@pnefc) and Facebook (facebook.com/OfficialPNE) and we have chosen to embrace this even more in the 2012/13 season.
Any supporters who follow North End’s games via the internet will be aware that the minute by minute service has stopped, with Twitter updates available instead.
The Lilywhites are unbeaten in their last five matches, and will be hoping to make the record six when they face Crawley Town.
It has been a season of fresh and exciting ideas at Preston North End both on and off the field as the Club aim for a successful 2012/13 campaign.
