Preston North End have offered first team contracts to three of its second year Scholars.
Defender Ben Davies, midfielder Ryan Croasdale and goalkeeper Steven James have all been offered one year deals with the Club, with an option of a further year for each of them.
However, Josh Amis, Brandon Zibaka, Jack Sowerby, Alan Scurry, David Kuba-Kuba, Matt Greenwood, Daniel Forbes and Adam Thurston have all been released.
It is hoped that the three will agree terms and sign their professional terms within the next few days and will be part of Simon Grayson’s squad for the 2013/14 season and beyond.
The Club would like to wish the other young players the very best for the future and hope that they can have a successful career in the game in the future.
Manager Simon Grayson said of the news: “At this moment in time, the football club isn’t in a position to have a development squad, however, if we had been in the Championship four or five of these players would probably have been given contracts to try and continue their development.
“The Scholars we give contracts to have to affect the first team in the next six to 12 months and feel the ones offered contracts have the best opportunity to do that, although the others can consider themselves very unlucky and we offer them all the very best in the future.”
