Back PNE At 15/8

8 August 2013

With two competitive games of the 2013/14 season under their belt, North End go on their travels for the first time on Saturday.

The Lilywhites travel to South Yorkshire to take on free scoring Rotherham United in what promises to be a tough test for Simon Grayson’s men.

North End have been well organised and defensively sound so far this season, having not conceded against both Wolves and Blackpool and while both might have bigger reputations that the Millers, no one has been more lethal than them in front of goal this week, as they notched up an impressive five goals in two matches.

Just like PNE, they have also proven that they can hang with Championship opposition, after knocking out local rivals Sheffield Wednesday in the first round of the Capital One Cup.

North End are priced at 15/8 to return home from their first ever trip to the New York Stadium with three points, while Rotherham are 11/8.

The draw is priced at 12/5.

The two sides haven’t met since they were both Championship clubs in the 2004/05 season, where the Lilywhites came out on top in both encounters, recording a 2-0 win at Deepdale followed by a 2-1 win away at Millmoor.

If you fancy PNE to record a similar scoreline to their last visit to Rotherham, 9/1 is the price on offer from Sky Bet and you can get 17/2 on a repeat of Tuesday night’s 1-0 victory against Blackpool.
